He took this laptop to competitions and it was very lightweight and sturdy through travel by bus and by plane

Summary: This was my son's computer for four years during high school. He is now a freshamn at Georgia Tech in Chemical engineering. I say this because he used this computer for a wide variety of things. He was on the robotics team and installed and used Autodesk Inventor CAD software for mechanical engineering design of their competition FRC robot. He took this laptop to competitions and it was very lightweight and sturdy through travel by bus and by plane.
Summary: I bought this laptop in June. I did my research on laptops with similar specs. So I think it goes without saying that if you buy ANY computer, you should do your own research and see if it would fit your needs. In order to continue talking about what I liked or didn't like about this HP laptop, I have to point out that I'm not a hardcore gamer or have a million pictures, songs, and videos to store.
Summary: Aside from getting infected with spyware early in my ownership, which I remedied on my own, this computer has never caused significant problems. It's easy to use, rarely has speed problems, and the fan is going constantly. Occasionally, the browser will crash after 2-3 days and require a whole-computer reboot, and occasionally a forced temperature shut-down from overheating will occur. Other than that, I like it. I'd definitely buy the same computer again.
Summary: This unit came without a hard drive but functioned OK. I was able to get an image from a similar model onto a 1T hard drive which I installed in the unit. Ran the image and everything came up perfect except for the WiFi adapter which was different. Got the right driver from HP site, installed it and then found that the USB port to the right side was not functioning. Opened up the unit to find the cable was not connected.
Summary: It's a Great laptop. I have loved using the laptop but I am glad I got the warrant with it because I did find out that the mouse pad it bad. After using it for a while the mouse pad start going crazy and you lose control of your mouse. It is almost as if it is overheating. I need to send it in the have it fixed. If I did not have the warrant, I would be rather upset.
Summary: I've had this laptop for a few years now, and it sees daily use. I take it everywhere with me, and it only gets used outside of the house. I've broken it, fixed it, cleaned it, dropped it, and am currently working on a problem with overheating. The downside to this laptop is that it is a pain to clean the dust out of.
Would be the best laptop only missing a few things I would need

Summary: I bought this same laptop at Office Depot for $400 so you may want to check there first for this model. This laptop is always fast and programs open smoothly with no stutter. In fact I used to use my main desktop computer for most of my work and a laptop for days when I was away from my office, but this laptop has totally replaced my desktop as the main computer.
Summary: A friend recommended this laptop to me after they bought their's at Christmastime. It's my first laptop replacing my desktop and I didn't know what I wanted or needed. Basically I use my PC to play games online and stream video, along with Facebook and answering emails. What made me buy this laptop in particular was the memory, large HD screen and full-size keyboard.
Summary: Overall this is an excellent computer. I like the keyboard much better than that of the Gateway computer I had previously. And, as another reviewer mentioned, it does not run too hot*, which is a problem I've encountered with other laptops. But as several others here have said, the touchpad lacks responsiveness.
