Summary: I bought this on a Black Friday sale at Walmart in 2011 or so. The laptop has performed well and I use it with an external monitor, and external keyboard and mouse, giving me the flexibility to unplug and carry and have all files and work with me. I *LOVE* HP computers (but you have to check reviews). The bad reviews on this product appear to be on refurbished products, which IMHO does not reflect on HP but on the resellers.
Summary: I bought this laptop at Staples in Feb 2011 for $499. Which is with a $100 instant rebate and they also gave me a $50 mail in rebate so actually I only paid $449. It come with one heck of a warranty... I have had basically everything replaced on this computer, hard drive, motherboard, webcam microphone, keyboard, and various other things I can't think of at the moment, but all for free under HP 1 year warranty. after all the bugs got worked out, it runs very well!!
Summary: I've had this laptop for a few years now, and it sees daily use. I take it everywhere with me, and it only gets used outside of the house. I've broken it, fixed it, cleaned it, dropped it, and am currently working on a problem with overheating. The downside to this laptop is that it is a pain to clean the dust out of.
Summary: Have had it for over two years, no problems whatsoever. When I first bought it, I fell in love with the bright LED screen and I still love watching videos on this screen, the nicest I ever had.Love the 17.3inch size and the bisque case, leaves no fingerprint marks and has a nice texture. For its size, it is thin and very sleek looking and at 6.6 lbs, not too heavy. Audio is so,so.
Summary: We bought this for our home computer in 2010 since then the computer has completely crashed, needed a new hard drive and has a defective keyboard. It has a nice, large screen with great resolution but this is one of the worst laptops I've had. We are now having problems with the cursor skipping around at random times - I cannot tell you how many emails I've accidentally sent due to a misplaced cursor. I've owned several other HP's and did not have these problems.
Lemon laptop. In a world of good and cheap laptops, do not subject yourself.

Summary: I got this laptop as a Christmas present before my deployment to Afghanistan. Long story short, this laptop worked fine until June, when it just totally crapped out on me en route to Afghanistan. The computer would not even turn on. HP was not really helpful and I wasted hours on the phone. Upon looking deeper into the problem at the HP forum, apparently this laptop has a lemon reputation and many people have this problem. Don't put yourself through this.
By far the WORST experience and investment ever!!!

Summary: I purchased this laptop rather hastily when my Sony Vaio laptops hard drive died after 6 years of service. Right out of the box this computers performance was mediocre at best mainly due to the vast array of HP programs (gimmicks)that come pre-installed. After about three months of ownership this HP product really started showing its evil and ugly face. It all started with what appeared to be a problem with the video/graphics card and/or its drivers.
