Summary: Exactly what I needed. HIgh quality laptop with seemingly good build and great design. Possibly the best keyboard (backlit) on a laptop out there. Only complaint is that the SD Card reader is not working; I don't use the card reader often enough to really care and have a USB card reader for the once in 6 months I need it. Highly recommended... but if anyone from Amazon or Hewlett-Packard read this, please get at me for fixing the SD Card Reader...
Summary: I was expecting very much from this laptop, having in mind the fact tat its price is not what you could call cheap. Unfortunately, it is build of cheap materials and it is very slow. From time to time I work with Photoshop. I am not a Power User, therefore I don't need a powerful workstation for this application. My old Dell was doing a very good job here.
Summary: After my old Macbook went to the big Apple Store in the Sky, I decided to switch over to a PC. I purchased a used HP Folio 13 in December 2012; the first owner had had it for six months and used it lightly during that time. This owner installed Windows 8, which I've been using happily. I upgraded to 8.1 when that came out, a transition that went smoothly. Many people have a beef with Windows 8 as an OS, but it certainly doesn't trouble this computer to run it.
Summary: I travel frequently, and this laptop has proved to be wonderful. If you are comfortable with a 13" screen, and don't need a large hard drive or DVD drive, this is an excellent machine. However, it should be noted that the 9 hour battery life cited is a serious exaggeration. I typically use the laptop to watch movies on long flights. Six hours, maybe, is closer to the truth.
Summary: Great laptop. I initially bought this JUST for travel. However over the past few months this has become my main PC. I am a fairly straight forward PC user: Office, Outlook, Web, some other exotic programs but thats about it - and Media. Excellent battery life. Very light, not as light as the samsung comprable, but this as opposed to the samsung series 9 has a better keyboard and wifi (my colleague has the Samsung).
Summary: I have never had such an awful experience with an online purchase. I bought this computer about a month ago and about a week after receiving it I opened the laptop and a black crack appeared on the LCD and the screen went to static. I took it into a specialist to get a diagnosis and he told me that the original LCD had been replaced with a cheaper, flimsier version and that such damage was really inevitable.
Summary: Light and long battery life, however it has really cheap hardware. The corner of the screen isn't metal, it's metal-look plastic. The corners of mine chipped of long ago. The USB 3.0 port stopped working after about 2 months the SD card reader stopped working after 6 months. It shuts down unexpectedly constantly and now the other USB is broken. I always carry this in a padded bad and am relatively gentile with it.
Summary: I work for a manufacturing company in the IT dept. We have 7 folio 13 in use (just over a year old now) and all but (2) so far have had the SSD fail in them and had to be replaced. So if you plan to get one, if you don't opt for the 3yr warranty be prepared to buy a new one. Also - unless you never use any USB devices, you may want to invest in a USB3 dock.
Great Business Winning Ultrabook, MacBook Air Killer, Best Ultrabook So Far
29 June 2013
Summary: This is HP Folio 13 the best Ultrabook, compared to all other brands of Ultrabook. Why is this is so good and why it's getting so many glowing reviews, an average of 4.8 stars out of 5 stars? This is why: 1. Windows 7 Professional. It's not Windows 7 Home or Windows 8 (which is horrible to run software or do usual business tasks).
