Failed a day after first using it
24 June 2014
Summary: After getting the OS updated to 8.1 (from 8) and starting to get it setup for use I shut it down for the night. The next day I attempted to startup and I could not get past the desktop. It was on a constant refresh mode. Working with HP support I discovered that the PC had already been registered by someone else and only 2 months were left on the original 1 year warranty. HP support was terrific, walking me through each progression of trying to fix the problem.
Summary: Laptop is far too sensitive, I regularly "fat finger" and swipe off of what I am working on. Also the WIFI connectivity is inconsistent and often problematic (sometimes I have to reboot multiple times to reconnect to the internet.
Summary: I've owned 8 laptops over the years and at 6 months into the Spectre Ultrabook, I'm sorely disappointed in it and Windows8. Biggest cons: 1) mouse is glitchy as hell. the cursor jumps around all over when typing and it sends emails on a whim without intention. 2) wireless antenna stinks. This laptop has problems finding decent signal sitting in the same place in home and office where my past laptops had no problem at all.
Speakers and audio-outlet buzz on two separate units

Summary: The good: The unit looks beautiful, with the i7 processor it is fast, and the touch screen is responsive. The bad: The audio buzzes every minute or two when listening to music, playing a dvd, etc. I thought it was the system, received a replacement (Amazon was great at handling it!), but the new unit had the same problem. Went on various forums and discovered I'm not the only one with this issue.
Lot's of nice things all ruined by unsolvable bad!

Summary: We purchased the Spectre XT 15-4010nr for the high res IPS panel at an affordable price and in a small form factor for 15". Everything about the laptop has been mostly as expected with really nice screen and most things working well after we got past Windows 8 junk(and it is JUNK, so annoying to NEED the touch screen to really get used to it as the gestures are just annoying). We didn't have any huge complaints with the touch pad and it is nice and big.
Summary: I purchased the spectre xt touchsmart primarily because it was one of the only 15" laptops that had a thunderbolt port. I work in an office with mostly mac users and only have access to apple thunderbolt displays. As soon as I got the laptop, the first thing I did was plug it into the display. It did not work. I shipped the unit back and got a second one. That one also did not work.
