Summary: I wanted a good screen. After looking at a lot of laptops this one was the best. I wanted a standard keyboard no number pad on the side. I wanted thin and light. Touchpad had to work flawlessly. It had to be quick and responsive. This laptop delivered. I took all the hard drives out and put one big efficient msata ssd. That is the way to go. Its a lot faster plus the battery life went up about half an hour.
Summary: When it comes to laptops I have had a varied experience from many different brands. I bought this bad boy used and have been happy ever since. I know some people have mixed feelings about this laptop but I have 0 complaints. It is very thin and attractive and I love that I turn heads anytime I pull it out. The metal finish is very durable and doesn't scratch easily.
The worst experience in my whole life with a laptop
21 February 2014
Summary: So I bought this laptop more or less 8 months ago. Since week 5 the adapter (charger) starter bothering it keeps saying it's not pluged in eventhoug it is. So I have to slam it super hard in to the laptop and then it really works. 2 months later the laptop started bothering with a problem with the hard drive; I sent it to warranty repair and eventhough I told them to fix the charger issue and the hard drive issue they only fixed the hard drive and completely ignored the...
Summary: I was looking for high performance laptop for under $1000 Good processor, good memory, Full HD touch screen, overall good performance. HP SPECTRE XT TouchSmart 15-4010nr 15.6-Inch Ultrabook meets my expectation.
Summary: I have owned my HP Spectre XT for several months and have enjoyed using it. The picture quality is good, the sound quality is OK (wish it were better, especially since it has the Beats audio upgrade) and the laptop is lightweight. I'm not a huge fan of Windows 8 which is what is loaded on this machine, but that's not HP's fault. The biggest problem with this computer is that it is poorly designed or built.
Summary: Love the Laptop but I bought for my wife and need W8.1 as it has a start button and looks more Windows 7 like. HP is telling me W8.1 is garbage and do not update and just stay with Windows 8. This is not an acceptable answer and I am working with a HP case manager to resolve matter.
Summary: Ok first let me say that I bought this in May, and for the six months I was happy (even mildly so with Windows 8). But it has become an extremely expensive paperweight. Out of the blue, it will not start up properly, rendering the entire computer inoperable. I had never downloaded anything other than Office and I don't do any possibly harmful web surfing, so this is not a malware issue.
Unstable Wireless Connection, Defective Touchpad, and horrible HP Customer Service
26 December 2013
Summary: First, the wifi connection for the HP laptop is unstable. I have a three year old Toshiba laptop and it can easily connect to the wifi. My son plays a game called League of Legends, when he plays, it crashes almost every other time because there was no connection. Also doing any work on this laptop has to be about 10 feet near the router to actually be partially stable. Second, the touchpad for the Spectre XT is defective.
