Summary: This is an attractive laptop and when you take it out of the box it seems amazing (HP is good at this.). However, over time, the performance isn't the greatest and it isn't very durable (especially the connection between the base and the screen). If you take really good care of your laptop/if it barely moves anywhere, you will be fine. But the point of such a light laptop is to be portable. If you are looking for portability, go for a smaller, sturdier laptop.
Summary: The notebook it self is great. I like the camera and the Beats speaker. This is the what I truly hate.....exactly a year after the purchase. The left hinge has come loose. EXACTLY A YEAR. I was give a quote directly from HP for around $200.0 Not worth it. I believe the material used was some time of glue. How embarrassing. I shelled out close to $600.00. Use something else to glue the screen. This is going to be my last HP I will be buying.
Summary: Maybe it's because I've been spoiled by the silky smooth, ultra accurate trackpad on a Macbook Pro, but when I use this laptop, I can never get over it's cheap feel. The surface is fine, but it tracks poorly, easily misinterprets left and right clicks, and has a nice plastic sound to it when you click or tap on it. Compared to the trackpads of so many other computers, it's a shame they screwed up here.
Summary: It looks sweet. no laptop looks cooler than this one. but the hard drive is garbage. my hard drive went out 2 months after owning. $200 for a new hard drive. Save your money and buy a new envy.
Summary: This is a great machine and performs admirably. The battery life is superior. While not a slim as a true Ultrabook like a Macbook Air or a Zenbook it's still thinner than most laptops. The sound quality is great. The machine has two speakers: one runs above the keyboard and the other is underneath the machine. To get the best sound quality, it needs to be on a flat surface so the sound can make it out from underneath the machine.
Summary: Its an okay computer but it gave me some troubles, more than I expect at the cost. Worse yet it really isn't built to last as 6 months into having it the issues just got more frequent, both hardware and software problems. I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
love the hardware - Hate the learning curve on OS - apps suck
26 July 2013
Summary: hardware and build quality is excellent OS is okay. had quite a few things to get used to. In the end i installed a software to put my start button and menu back. Apps suck and kept freezing. Programs ran fine. i thought this had backlit keyboard when i purchased. it did not come with it.
Summary: I bought this laptop in September 2012 and have treated it fairly well. It looked quite nice with the glossy top, and is thin and fairly light. However, physically, it wears down rather quickly. The top is amazingly easily scratched. Scratches appear on it and I have no idea where they come from -- I've never dropped this laptop.
