The Envy 17 is the biggest and most powerful model in HP’s top-end line of laptops, which are known for their sex appeal and solid build quality. The Envy 17’s 11x16.5x1.5-inch chassis is constructed of magnesium alloy with an aluminum wrapping that’s decoratively etched on the lid and palm rest. The chiclet keyboard is large, with a dedicated number pad, and the keys feel pleasant to type on. The keyboard’s backlight can be turned on and off with a key press. Read more

The HP Envy 17 is an impressive piece of technology. Design and workmanship are almost beyond any doubt. The utilized materials have been processed cleanly and fit well into the image of a premium multimedia notebook . The good keyboard also fits into the picture. The strong hardware not only provides movie entertainment in FullHD, but also a lot of fun in gaming. The Envy 17 also looks good in this field. We had a few doubts about the display at first. In an era where truly upscale laptops seem like an endangered species, it’s always nice to run across a well-built system with few compromises, such as the HP Envy 17. We’ve always liked the Envy line in general, and the two most-recent models, the 14-inch Envy 14 and this 17-inch Envy 17, manage to surpass last year’s original 13- and 15-inch versions by coming in at much more reasonable prices.
