Summary: Got it up and running and runs fast. It was a Xmas gift for my wife. Unfortunately, it refused to turn on the third day. I called support and we went through the troubleshooting. They determined it was a power problem. Now they are sending me a box to ship to them and then another 7-9 business days (so they say) to try to fix it. Merry Xmas. It would be nice if they just replaced it. Lemons are still lemons no matter how you fix them.
Summary: I previously owned HP from Costco and the product was exceptional. Based on the previous experience, I replaced my old laptop first with HP Envy 15' Touchscreen (HP ENVY 15-k163cl). That laptop was a disaster, keyboard wasn't functioning, it would keep going to apps spontaneously. I chalked it off to one of the defect products and bought this computer. Since I work with a lot of computational stuff, I always replace the hard drive with solid state drive.
Pros: slick design sound system display
Cons: overheats completely inaccesible to hardware changes bios is lock in into hp and require workaround windows 8
Couldn't return fast enough -so disappointed in HP
4 weeks ago
Summary: Wow how can an HP Envy I7 with 1080p display go so terribly WRONG? Honestly I dislike most aspects of this laptop. Display is HORRIBLE - it's actually, visibly grainy, and many of the icons, apps and even some text is fuzzy/blurry. The viewing angle works at like ONE angle only before it goes black or washes out. It's loud with hard drive "munching" sounds. And the touchpad is AWFUL.
Pros: full-size number pad
Cons: display poor and disappointing touchpad awful shipping slower than slow
Summary: Most useless laptop I ever bought. I got the laptop from HP laptop store and I stopped using this junk after 3 months. Problems I faced: Gets heated too quickly and makes hell lot of noise as though some coffee grinder is turned on.Crashes regularly and once I couldn't boot as primary and recovery partitions were wiped out. I call up HP service and they say that it is none of their fault and I need to pay $50 or $60 to buy a recovery drive to get my laptop running.
Summary: This computer doesn't even deserve 1 star. This computer has been absolutely terrible. Within the first month, the wifi connector went out on it and then within 3 months the hard drive out on it. I tried to get a new computer from HP customer service and they were absolutely terrible. They didn't solve my problem at all and wouldn't cooperate with me at all. I am a poor college student and when i buy an expensive computer, i should be given a quality computer.
Summary: I bought this to replace a 5-year-old laptop and it's terribly slow. First off, it took about 3 weeks to arrive from China. Then, once I set it up, it is constantly adding updates. How can a brand new laptop need 88 updates after one use? I don't get it. The internet and applications are super slow. It is going back.
Cons: super slow expensive for a laptop too many updates doesn't include microsoft office
Not worth the price, takes forever, no backlit key
18 November 2014
Summary: This computer took a very long time to get to me, almost three weeks, then it does not have a backlit keyboard, plus it is very slow. I will be returning. You would think that taking almost three weeks to have it built to these specifications it would be as described.
