Review HP EliteBook 8570w Notebook

13 November 2012
  • Excerpt: The contender. The EliteBook 8570w is a premium notebook designed to compete in the high-performance realm of professional workstations. Our review model doesn't feature top-of-the-line components, however - it's equipped with an Intel Core i5 CPU, Nvidia Quadro K1000M GPU, and a HD+ display. Can this less powerful version of the series stand up to its competition?
  • Pros: Premium (and very sturdy) chassis, Very good keyboard, Long battery life, Good display, Very good overall performance, Easy to expand; good port selection, Runs cool, The superb chassis, the plethora of ports, and the decent performance.
  • Cons: Price-performance ratio of the review model is not the best, No Nvidia Optimus - shorter battery life and higher system noise at low load levels, Fairly noisy hard drive, Keyboard not backlit

HP Elitebook 8570w

Active Network

The biggest trend being underpowered good enough devices such as Chromebook’s (even HP has gotten into the game) or Tablets such as the iPad. The belief is that the days of over powered systems such as the EliteBook are now over.
  • Pros: Robust, Sturdy design, Plethora of features and ports: USB 3.0, HDMI, Firewire, Biometric Reader, eSATA,, Excellent Touchpad with built in gestures and options for easily turning on/off Touchpad, Excellent performance, fast Core i5 CPU with vPro (Core i7 as an upgrade option), nVidia Quadro Graphics and 4 GBs of DDR 3 memory upgradable to 32 GBs., Easy to service and upgrade, Anti-glare display makes it easy on the eyes in environments where there is a lot of light., ...
  • Cons: While sufficient for some persons, I think a hybrid drive would have been a better choice instead of the default mechanical drive. The spinning disk disappoints in certain areas, boot time, read/write., While 4 GBs is enough to get by, 8 GBs of memory would have been a better default option out of the box., No backlit keyboard, difficult to use in low light settings., Although portable, it’s not something you want to lug around with often, 6 pounds is a lot of weight ...

Análise do Portátil HP EliteBook 8570w

2 December 2012
