Excerpt: Quality control is a problem for HP. The battery was dead and would not hold a charge on arrival. The DVD drive will not read or write past half a disk. The battery I replaced and I just use an external DVD drive with it.
Summary: I bought this laptop for both school and some gaming. I t works well in both areas. I don't like the keyboard or mouse pad, but I've never liked them on a laptop. At home with a good wireless mouse and keyboard it definitely lives up to everything I expected.
Summary: It’s a really nice laptop. I really liked that mine came without windows preinstalled, and I installed Linux on it and it worked very well. Its a really powerful laptop with a really low price, the USB 3.0 ports (it has 2) works really fast. I’ve never seen before a laptop running that fast, it’s a great value for money being a 2ºnd generation i7 with a dedicated graphics card with a such a low price.
Summary: Bought this after browsing for a smaller screen laptop and for the reviews and specs this is a winner. A no nonsense looking machine that has rugged features and over all good speed and load handling for server development architecture(which I do) and normal personal use. A little on the heavy side but I like the way you can be confident with it while travelling about and not worried about bumps and a little rough handling.
Summary: I have one of these laptops for work and its survived over 12 months being lugged around every day, not an overly pretty machine, but who cares if it does the job and will survive being bumped, knocked and dropped. Plenty of performance and runs pretty much everything we need. That's why I decided to buy one for personal home use.
