Summary: After multiple attempts to 'register' the product with MSoft using the product code on the bottom of the laptop, I was finally successful in getting the code accepted...or so I thought. When I tried to download updates, it would not allow updates to load from MSoft. I put it away for awhile and when I turned it on again it immediately went into a chkdsk routine and deleted the "Boot?
Pros: looks good, fingerprint security is a nice feature, price was good
Cons: too heavy and the fingerprint security systems takes a while to start up. The battery was no good and I was not able to start the computer without having it plugged in. That's something that should have been checked before sending it out. I ended up returning the laptop after a week.
Summary: Don't buy HP laptops! The firm I work for has 4 elitebooks and they are the most unreliable laptops I have ever run across. Just recently I had to replace a hard drive, display and motherboard in an elitebook that was 15 months old. Dealing with HP support (based obviously in India) was a nightmare! I told them that it was extremely important to have these problems fixed ASAP so they said that they would send out a tech with the parts to replace them.
Summary: This computer is a mess. First and foremost, the hinge broke and HP refused to honor the warranty. The laughable part is that HP markets this machine as rugged and even touts how strong the hinges are. Not really. After hours and hours of calls to India and the nasty HP repair reps, they wouldn't budge on honoring the warranty repair. They accused me of breaking the hinge (only the right one and not the left) without even saying how that could have happened.
