Summary: I've had this laptop for almost 3 years. It actually performs well for my needs. I have it on about 15 hours a day. It is still fast and does everything I need it to. I do not do any heavy gaming though, just web browsing, email, movies, music, online games like Pogo, etc. I paid 300 dollars for it brand new, on sale. It was an excellent laptop for the price, no doubt, as far as performance, but their are some build quality issues.
Mostly okay, with some issues that I wish I knew about.

Summary: This computer is slow, but it does work well for the price. The biggest thing for me, is I recently upgraded my home network to gigabit, expecting to be able to connect this laptop, since it has an nForce 10/100/1000 mbps network connection. This card will not negotiate a connection beyond 100 mbps, so for that, I find the computer not as useful.
Great for low budget PC's not for use with heavy resource software

Summary: I bought this computer almost a year and a half ago. Since then, I've had to get the battery and the cooling fan replaced. I will not lie, it is a good computer for a price of 329.99 but I would not pay more than 350.00 dlls for it, also HP support (since they now own Compaq) was great and helped me with the issues mentioned before.
Decent laptop for price, but battery life is quite poor

Summary: I purchased this to replace a six year old Gateway laptop. Overall, this is a good value for the price. Runs everything I need quite well. My primary complaint is battery life. It's rated at 4 hours, but I've yet to get 2 hours using only for Excel, word processing and internet access. The Gateway battery was much smaller and lighter and gave me an honest 4 hours in the same type of usage. Also, the supplied AC adapter gets very hot when the unit is charging.
Summary: I have always favoured Compaq Laptops. However, one silly design flaw can be really offputting. The AC / DC adaptor for this series of laptops keeps breaking because there is too much mechanical stress on the point where it plugs into the laptop. It plugs in so that the powercord of in line with the point, so that it keeps breaking. Most other laptop DC adaptors have an L shaped configuration, so that the stress dosent load on the insert point.
Summary: My problems with this laptop: 1) it uses the intel graphics adapter. Yes, this laptop like all entry level laptops, was not really meant for gaming but lets face it, with today's technology, all entry level laptops can in fact play any game except for those out in the last year, when given enough of the associated resources. Why does it not have the nvidia mobile video like its sister machines.
Summary: I got this computer for my birthday 3 years ago and it was always slow for games, even with a good internet connection. 3 years on this laptop is still reasonably fast for watching videos, loading programs and composing word documents. However this computer does not manage games or anything else that requires a high FPS or CPU. Also as it only has 1GB RAM it cannot manage large files well and should not be used to download large files.
Excerpt: When it comes to laptops and technology in general I pretty much know nothing. I had a fantastic laptop, bought me by my Step father that was worth hundreds, lost my temper and smashed it up leaving me with no laptop at all and I was lost. I needed a laptop fast, before I lost my mind and did a little research but got fed up and didn't really no anything about what I needed and in the end I spotted this one on Amazon.co.uk new for £224.00 and felt that as long as it...

Excerpt: What I know and understand about the inner workings of a laptop or computer can be written in large capitals around the milled edge of a postage stamp; but then, I do not need to know the inner workings of a car to be able to drive one, and so it is with my laptop, a Compaq CQ60 -305EA Laptop.
Pros: Good, wide, flat and clearly marked keyboard keys
