Summary: I'm using one right now, it works just fine with a big fan blowing on it externally, need to take the whole thing apart to clean the fan including the motherboard, too much work and it doesn't just unscrew there snap pieces, uncool, they put no though into it. Without my external fan it overheats in about an hour or less if internet is used, especially streaming.
Summary: Literally within the FIRST MONTH of my purchase, my laptop crapped out on me. It somehow managed to accumulate over 14,660 error messages (I'm not joking, email me for pics of the screen capture) and I had to pay over the cost of the entire laptop itself over the course of the 2 years I've had it to pay to get it defragged and reinstall the operating system. My laptop was loaded with the crappy Windows Vista and it crapped out on me.
Summary: While I agree this laptop won't cost you much, don't forget you get what you pay for. After having the computer for less than a year the battery won't charge and I can't use the computer unless it is plugged in. It overheats all the time and is just a slow computer overall. It's bulky and while the screen is large, I would trade the large screen for a portable computer any day.
Summary: Right out of the gate when I recieved the package the box was crushed. I looked somewhate like an accordian even though it was marked FRAGILE all over the box. Once I opened the box and saw the laptop I was further disappointed that the "very good" condition was incorrect. Dirty keys plus multiple dents and dings. I was also disappointed that there was no anti virus software at all.
Summary: Overheats like a bitch, bad battery. Battery life span is about 30 minutes. Not good for working on projects, homework, etc. Can't even play flash internet games without overheating itself. Save yourself the money and pain and buy a quality not-compaq laptop.
Summary: Purchased a year ago was very nice, audio stunk but for the price it was serviceable. Has lots of HD space and memory. About 3 months ago the DVD stopped reading disks and then wouldnt secure (stayed in the ejected position) Compaq wants 91.00 plus 11.00 shipping for a new one (what a deal). Then last month the plastic wifi button above the keyboard fell off. Now i have a bright blue led shining in my eyes.
Summary: I bought one about 1 year ago. after using it about 8 months, the battery became total useless, right now, the battery can only work less than 10 min, If I call it rubbish, will you agree?, furthermore, the microphone didn't work now. how did i find this? I had some phone call with the LAPTOP, the other sometimes cannot here me!!!, initially, i guess it's the skype problem, but it turns out NOT. no COMPAQ product(any product) anymore.
Summary: I got this laptop for my 14 the birthday and Grduation. When i first got it i was so happy. When i turned it on all that happieness tuned in to frustrstion. Right from the get go it was slow. and didnt function right. So if u want to get a laptop. this is not the laptop that i would want to buy. unless u like slow and annoying laptops. be my guess.
Summary: I got a similar model about a year and nine months ago, but the problems started a long time ago. This laptop started with some heat issues, whenever I had it on my lap, it would overheat, oftentimes so much that it would turn itself off, so I got a fan lap desk and it worked well. It took me about 3 minutes from the time I turned it on until I was able to use it successfully. All of this started about three months after buying it.
Summary: We bought this as a Christmas gift for our son last year, After 8 months it quit powering up, we took to Staples and they did diagnostics on it, they said the power button was defective (I'm finding alot of people have the same problem after some research) We called Compaq as per Staples directions, and they can attempt repairing it for $400.00 which is more than we paid to start with, although it was a Christmas gift, I got my shopping done early so warranty is useless.
