Excerpt: The touchpad also could use some improvement as the keys have to be pushed at the right angle for the laptop to register right click or left click, and simply tapping the touchpad doesn’t always work. What some of the users might consider a drawback, HP 550 doesn’t have a built in webcam or a mic, so if you’re a fan of video chatting or Skype, you’ll need additional hardware. But if you simply need the laptop for office work this laptop would be perfect for you.
Excerpt: In power-saving mode, browsing the internet will drain your battery more or less in 2 hours. Watching a DVD movie maybe even faster. Working with office applications will last around 2.5 hours. An appropriate overall rating for this machine would be 8/10 in my opinion. It brings together low price, simplicity and good performance. A very practical notebook for everyday computing suitable especially for students or business professionals.
HP Notebook 550 - Sleek, lightweight and good value for money
22 November 2010
Excerpt: "HP Notebook 550: OPERATING SYSTEM: The HP Notebook 550 comes pre-installed with Windows Vista. Up until I got this laptop, I only had experience of XP so Vista is a welcome change after using XP for years and years. (Although not so welcome when you're an ICT teacher whose textbooks all follow the XP OS!) Vista has its own format and layout of toolbars and menus but the option of converting to the XP view (referred to as 'Classic') is available ...
Pros: portable, lightweight, easy to use, widescreen
Cons: sound not very loud, battery deteriorated fast, explorer problems
Not a bad laptop but maybe not robust enough for us!

Summary: My partner actually won this computer at work so I wasn't holding out much hope for it as I assumed it would have been one of the cheaper laptops on the market. I have to say though I have been pleasantly surprised. Our laptop is used every day pretty much as our main computer as I can work on it whilst downstairs. We also have wireless connected which is great as I will look for a recipe on the internet then use it to cook from in the kitchen, no need to print it off.
Summary: After owning and using my HP550 laptop for the last six months or so, I thought it was about time I wrote a review of its performance. This will be strictly from a non-technical user's perspective with very little technical jargon because I'm not a computer technician and neither, presumably, are most of the people who will read this review.

Excerpt: "The HP is a comfortably priced laptop. It is light-weight and features a good quality, glossy screen and comes complete with Vista. This is an excellent laptop to take to and from the office or use generally on the go. The keyboard and control buttons are light-touched and feels smooth as you type. The laptop's exterior is stylish but keeps a low profile (finished in gun metal) it looks like the serious deal. When working the laptop stays ...
Pros: Clever, quick laptop with a stylish exterior .
Cons: The USB ports a little weak, may be better with a catch .
Excerpt: "this is a very good first printer and it is relatively cheap to buy. The quality of printouts is very good, although the speed, at about 4 pages per minute in black and white leaves something to be desired. The cartridges are quite expensive, and at £25 a go, running costs are inevitably high. Colour printouts are normally of a high quality, but it is very slow when doing these, and this causes other programs to slow down as well. I would recommend ...
