Conclusion: Compared to our recent review of the Gigabyte P25W, the P35K offers very similar specifications and at a very similar price. The major differences with the P35K being the lower powered Nvidia GTX765M graphics, double the RAM at 16GB and a rather strange omission of a Blu-ray drive which we would have expected to be a standard at this price point.
Pros: Good Specification, Excellent storage upgrade options, Value For Money, Thin and lightweight
Cons: Serious overheating issues, P25W is a better proposition
Conclusion: Still, the P35K—like the even lighter, 14-inch MSI GE40 and Razer Blade—is a good illustration of the fact that a gaming laptop need no longer be a 17-inch leviathan, with unique features like its available quad-drive storage that make it worth a look from weight-watching gamers.
Pros: Solid performance at a good price, Slim design and light weight, Nice, bright 1080p IPS display with wide viewing angles
Cons: Spartan-looking design, Loud cooling fans, Gaming performance falls short at high resolution and quality settings
Summary: There’s no doubt that aesthetically the Gigabyte P35K Ultrablade Gaming Laptop is a great improvement over the P25 seen a few weeks go, in fact the Gigabyte P35K Ultrablade Gaming Laptop is a good looking, sleek (just 22mm thick) and light Gaming laptop. But does it have it where it counts? Well yes and no… The P35K has the looks and features a great 15.6 (1920×1080) IPS screen that has good colour representation and great viewing angles.
Conclusion: The P35K achieves Gigabyte’s vision of power and portability, and rivals the Razer Blade and MacBook Pro as an excellent laptop for work or play. While there are some very noticeable downsides – a mediocre keyboard and trackpad, considerable fan noise under load and only moderately good battery life – these are by and in large design tradeoffs than design failures.
Pros: Strong gaming performance, with good framerates at moderate settings and 1080p resolution, Extremely rapid day-to-day performance for browsing, graphics, even rendering video, Slim, light and professional-looking (a rarity in a gaming laptop), Good selection of ports, plus choice of optical drive or extra hard drive, Solid if not ground-breaking display resolution and quality
Cons: Shallow keyboard and buggy trackpad, Loud and warm under load, Sub-par battery life for a Haswell notebook, Way too many stickers
