Summary: I've had this laptop for over 2months now and, unfortunately, I haven't been pleased with the purchase. This laptop crashes all the time saying the "Internal Hard Drive Could Not Be Found." Do a Google search for this and you will see that others have had this issue as well and Dell hasn't done anything about it.
Summary: This would be a great laptop convertible [it's a little heavy and expensive] except for the flickering screen problem. I can only guess that the prior reviews that don't mention it, think it's just a 1-time problem......until it happens repeatedly. Found out it's an old problem [google it].....surprised Costco would sell a product with a known problem.
Summary: Search "Dell XPS 12 Windows 8.1 autorotate" and you will get a thread from frustrated customers requesting Dell address the screen autorotate breaking after upgrading to Windows 8.1 for over a month now with no resolution by Dell (or urgency, it would seem). In short, upgrading Windows to 8.1, out for months now, breaks the autorotate feature, which makes using this as a tablet almost pointless. Further, the trackpad is not very good.
Pros: nice form factor and build quality
Cons: touchpad scrolling issue autorotate broken after upgrading to win 8.1 poor dell support of product
Summary: I recently just purchased a Dell Studio XPS 12 laptop. When i saw it, i fell in love with the clever, sleek design. But I have had the computer for just over a month and used it only a couple of times. Now when i try to use it the operating system won't load. When I turn it on the dell logo flashes up then it stops. The problem is very frustrating and I spent several hours on the phone with tech support.
Summary: Looks good at first, but the hard drive makes noise I've only heard from old laptops the first time I start it up. Another problem is that there is hissing sound when I plug in headphone. I googled it and found the problem, which looks pretty common on Dell, is due to the headphone jack. Some say that "Your laptop's headphone jack is poorly designed and not properly isolated from other components in the computer."Never encounter so many problems on a new computer.
Summary: The screen develops bad ghosting issues over time. Any bright regions of the screen appear in dark areas when the content of the screen is changed. Simply unacceptable for a premium priced machine.
Summary: This is the fifth dell computer I have purchased and the first time I have been so disappointed. The first day I received it the computer would not turn off...I finally got it off at 2:00am and it was downhill after that. The touch screen stopped working and they sent someone out to replace it. As soon as it was installed the keyboard no longer worked and it can only be used in tablet mode!
Summary: This is a very attractive machine and the features it promises will entice. The problem is that it doesn't know what it wants to do most of the time. The startup process is not always consistent and often takes 3-5 minutes to start up. A hard re-boot is often faster. Once it starts, when in laptop mode, the cursor disappears never to be seen again unless you restart or navigate through the control panel with the touch screen and go to the settings and start the touchpad...
