  • Excerpt: Material is cheap quality. Initially, battery life was good but in couple of months wear level of battery is about 15%! Battery life has gone down as result. Anti-Glare display is very grainy. You may need a vision insurance just in case. Under low CPU usage, it's very quite but as soon as...

  • Excerpt: I can only give this laptop a 2 of 10 rating because it has one fatal flaw: the power connector will not stay connected to the back of the laptop. The slightest shifting of the laptop in my lap makes the connector fall out. Sneezing makes the cable fall out. I counted the number of times it fell...

  • Excerpt: I have the first gen (L701x) and I use this laptop daily for work. I'm a consultant and work in server/desktop virtualization, so I needed a desktop replacement in a laptop and that is just what this is. I have enough (horizontal) screen space to work, or if I need more I can hook up two...

One for the geeks

  • Summary: When me and my girlfriend were living apart and I would visit her for the weekends I decided I needed to buy a laptop. I should mention now that were both gamers, so I needed something to play while round her house. I did a little research and found the Dell XPS laptop which suits me pretty well. To be honest the laptop is slightly on the heavy side and can be a bit cumbersome when moving it anywhere.

Dell XPS 17 - Custom build = a perfect build?

toffah, Dooyoo
6 October 2012
  • Summary: The product: A Dell XPS 17 notebook with touchscreen, Intel i7 Processor, 8 GB RAM, 9-cell battery and 1 TB Hard Drive. Why I bought it: I was looking for an upgrade to a more powerful notebook with a larger screen, particularly for photo editing and music management. I was encouraged to try a Macbook, but I have always disliked the Macintosh operating system so this was an alternative for me. The good: The screen! I found the screen to be of superb quality.
  • Pros: High Resolution Display and Sound Quality
  • Cons: Installed Software
