Summary: It is a good laptop and i think i got a good deal. To get a dell xps new laptop for under 600 dollars is pretty cheap and laptop had 1080p resolution too. Every thing looks so cool on it and its lighter than the previous models.
Summary: I got this through work for $599, so this was just a wonderful computer. The battery lasts about 5 hours which is pretty good for a laptop this size and speed. The processor is excellent. Mine has the i5 that turbo-boosts to 2.9GHz, which is freaking sweet. The 1080p screen is also wonderful, and the backlit keyboard is also great. I am really impressed with this computer.
Summary: First let me say that I am not a big fan of Dell laptops, that being said I really do like this particular model. I purchased this laptop because as an open box item, with seven months of warranty still left + price was just too good to pass up. I believe the best thing on this laptop is the display; the colors are rich, vibrant and deep. Looking at the display on this laptop made me wonder why I desktop with two brand-new $300 video cards doesn't look the same.
Summary: Mine: Core i5 2410 2.3Ghz, 720P display, 6GB memory, 120gb Intel SSD. Pros: It's beautiful, fast, turbo-boost, Nvidia GT-525 graphics, backlit keyboard, comes with 6gb memory. Flies through graphic design. Did I mention it's beautiful? I threw an Intel X25 solid state hard drive in mine and it cold boots to windows logon screen in 17 seconds! Cons: Screen -s a little washed out but correctable using Nvidia color correction.
Summary: Seeing this is my first laptop which adds to the postivness of this Dell XPS15z i can still NOT give it a 5. Its decent for its price. There have been a been a number of complaints i read about messed up systems but this is from DElls behalf not Amazon. Personally mine came with the casing just under the mouse pad popping off. It is ont the pricey end, but has good specs factory default u will get a 4.9 on the windows experience index from the graphics card.
Summary: I wanted 1920x1080 resolution in a thin and light with Sata III, USB 3.0 and HDMI 1.4. The choices were this, this and this (1080p model, of course). It's a very good system all in all. I highly recommend using an SSD such as an OCZ Vertex 3. The computer boots 3x faster with an SSD. I deducted a star because of the difficulty of upgrading parts (memory, hard drive, etc). It is not as simple as removing a few screws. You can easily damage the unit in doing so.
Summary: The laptop is fast, has a great screen, is fairly thin and light for this kind of powerhouse, and supports some of the latest ports (eSATA, USB 3.0). Battery life is so-so at 2.5 to 4 hours. Consider getting the 1920x1080 screen and the i7 processor; they don't cost much extra and enhance the laptop a great deal. In particular, the screen is large enough to be usable with full HD resolution.
Summary: dell xps 15z is a good laptop, at least for me. It is slim and not too heavy. It looks like macbook pro, but is different in many details. I give it 4 star but not five because the manufaction makes me a little disappointed. Actually, it worths its prices, please don't compare xps 15z with macbook pro, the 15inch macbook pro starts at more than 1700 dollars, but xps starts only 999...So, i love this laptop, especially it is a windows PC.
