Summary: I bought this a week ago and as soon as it is shipped, I found out the internet connection is not working well (It is way way slower like I live in the time internet just came out). I thought it is router problem but when I compare this xps 14 with my old laptop, my old laptop internet worked well.
Summary: The battery detiriorates very fast and within 6 months of buying the battery life is down to 2 hours. Battery is not even user replacable and 4GB ram, with only 1 slot is not something you will look for in a premium laptop.
Summary: This laptop has been a disaster. Build quality feels great, but poor screen and WiFi are deal breakers. I originally had white blemishes show up on my screen, tech replaced it with another screen with same issue. 2nd tech came out to replace, but in process broke msata. Had to send laptop into depot. They had it 3 weeks and I finally got it back yesterday. 3rd screen is worse than ever. KillerN card that I had was now an Intel 6235. Mouse pad sticks on left clicks.
Summary: This computer has decent components, but is unreliable. Mine has not started for 2 months, and after 5 visits by a Dell technical support agent, it still will not start... I currently do not know when they will actually fix it.
Summary: I'll start w/battery life. "Up to" 11 hrs. You read the fine print that it varies based on configuration & usage and that it decreases over time. HOWEVER, a machine that's maybe a month old & barely used - freshly charged & I'm not even getting 2 HOURS? Seriously?? Not even worth going further than this - it should be warning enough.
Having multiple issues,Poor wireless performance, Screen issues
9 April 2013
Summary: I got this laptop around new year 2013. First 2 weeks worked fine. After that having multiple issues like Screen problems, blue screens, unexpected beep sounds, poor wireless performance, unexpected shutdowns. Spent 18 hours on call with dell tech people trying to fix issues. But still having all the issues.
Summary: In my extended family, we own 3 XPS. I have a 14" and two of my brother in laws have the 15". All three started to have the very same issues in 1 year of use: the battery charger is no longer identified by the system (google this issue and you'll see how common it is), soon the battery was completely gone and if you remove the cable the laptop is turned off almost immediately. And, most importantly now, on all three the video card just doesn't work properly anymore.
Summary: Having owned several Dell laptops in the past and been quite happy, I am sorry to report this is not so with my last purchase. Please if anyone else has had similar issues I would love to know how it was resolved.
