Dell Vostro V131

CNET
19 December 2011
  • Summary: The 2011 Dell Vostro V131 succeeds at being an affordable and powerful update to the 13-inch small-business laptop, adding much-needed battery life and processing boosts. At its lower-priced configurations, it's worth a look for budget shoppers.
  • Cons: Other 13-inch laptops are even thinner and lighter; the matte screen and mono speaker are weak for a laptop this size.

Expert Review

ComputerShopper
20 November 2011
  • Conclusion: For the business traveler looking for an ultraportable machine without having to settle for a tiny display, the 13.3-inch, 4-pound Dell Vostro V131 is a smart choice. We love its thin, aluminum chassis and—especially—all the changes Dell made from last year, making the battery bigger and removable, while relocating the ports to the sides.
  • Pros: Battery is big and removable, Competitive Core i5 performance, Thin and light for a 13.3-inch laptop, Comfortable backlit keyboard, Mostly aluminum chassis
  • Cons: Subpar Webcam, Display hinges are too loose

Dell Vostro V131

LAPTOP Magazine
18 October 2011
  • Summary: The $889 Dell Vostro V131 is one of the better small business notebooks you can buy. The machine retains the incredibly attractive aluminum chassis of its predecessor and improves upon it with a comfy backlit keyboard; a longer-lasting, user-replaceable battery; and a fingerprint reader for security.
  • Pros: Sleek red aluminum chassis, Fingerprint reader, Good battery life, Strong performance, Comfortable backlit keyboard
  • Cons: Mediocre graphics performance, Speakers could be better

Review Dell Vostro V131 Notebook

Notebookcheck
28 August 2011
  • Summary: Evolution. Dell launched a slim and portable line in its entry-level business range with the Vostro V130. It's also supposed to convince in terms of design. Powerful Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs follow the first attempts with ULV processors. A few modifications have also been made on the case. Our comprehensive review now follows the preview.
  • Pros: Solid, attractive case, Illuminated keyboard, Very good application performance, Good battery life, Extensive communication equipment, More power, more battery life, about the same price.
  • Cons: Display hinge's low force, Background noise always present, Moderate brightness, A really trouble-free outdoor suitable display with at least 250 cd/m2. The optionally available SSD in our test device.

Dell Vostro V131 review

Pocket Lint
12 March 2012
  • Excerpt: Light and powerful, Dell's Vostro range is intended to add a little style to the small business or the home office. The latest member of the family, the V131, is a Sandy Bridge Core i5 machine, one of a new generation of thin and light 13.3-inch business machines. Does it match up to the competition – and does it better its predecessor, the V130?
  • Pros: Light, powerful and portable
  • Cons: Lack of optical drive
