Great value. Just what I wanted for $175

  • Summary: The first one arrived and worked fine until the next morning when the spring under the ENTER key came loose and stuck under the SHIFT key. Also it seemed to lock up when it went into sleep mode. I received a second one and it works great.

Worth the money, but nothing more.

  • Excerpt: I have had the Dell Vostro 1520 since May 2009, and it has held up quite nicely. I have it with the Duo Processor, in 64 bit Windows Vista with the webcam and 9 hour battery. First of all the computer runs very fast with few problems with non responsive programs, which I do not blame on the computer, but the operating system. Windows Vista has its problems, such as compatibility with many games, which I dislike. The computers wireless network connector is very good.

  • Excerpt: This computer is very poor in poformance. The graphics are not that great. Also the speed is quite slow I thought. I used this computer for email, surfing the web, shopping, and so on. This computer was not at all to my expectaions. As far as I am concered this computer sucked. I would never recomend this computer to anyone. I thought that this computer did not have a good memory or storage as some would call it.

This Dell 1520 laptop is the absolute best toughest computer!

  • Excerpt: I bought my Dell 1520 laptop in the fall of 2007.  It has been everything I needed for college in a computer.  It is also extremely tough!  It is the Timex watch of computers!  "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking!"  It has been whipped to the ground from a bar height table, fallen out of a lifted pick up truck, and knocked off of the kitchen table and it STILL works.  I LOVE my Dell, and would recommend to anyone who wants a good quality well made computer.

  • Excerpt: I bought this dell Vostro about a year ago and it has worked excellently fine. the only issue i've had was a funny cracking noise from the fan under the laptop 8 months after buying it. It was making irritating noise whenever the laptop was on but I called it in and with my warranty still alive they had me send my laptop in to them and withing a week I got my laptop back with the fan changed and no more noise since then.

  • Excerpt: this was a waste of my money. i mean a huge problem with dell laptops is the battery life is not going to last you a long time. less than a year for me and my battery would only run for 30minutes fully charged. also after one year the laptop only ran if it was plugged into charger. at 1.5 years, it was fully burned out, didnt charge anymore. also the fan inside broke down after half a year and the laptop would over heat quickly and then it would power surge.

  • Excerpt: I purchased this laptop at a rent-to-own store. The price was quite high, but I do not blame Dell for that. I am overall happy with this laptop, probably just need some more computer experience to use all of the features. For anyone with little experience, I would recommend this product for its ease of use.

Dell VOSTRO 1520 is worth the price

  • Excerpt: Made-to-order (as far as pre-installed software necessary for my business) and it took about a month from sales ticket to arrival. (If you order the off-the-shelf version, it would likely arrive much sooner.) Has 17" (standard) screen and comes with the Win 7 OS; mine is Prof 32-bit but it can be customized to fit your needs, i.e. Home, 64-bit, etc.

I really love it but HATE the operating system!

  • Excerpt: This system is not overpriced and functionally is very sound. I have had it for quite sometime, and use it (both for work and school) almost every day. I have not had one problem with it thus far. I purchased mine with the 17" screen upgrade because I enjoy watching movies on it occasionally. I also purchases the 160 GB hard drive, with 2 GB RAM as opposed to 120 GB and 1 GB. I don't, however, know if that makes a massive improvement in performance over the base model.
