Summary: This company is unprofessional and customer service was lacksadaisical and seemed unimportant. The computer I ordered did not match the description. I paid for a Windows 7 system and received a computer with the older Vista system. When inquiring on an even exchange, this was not an option.
Summary: Bought this ole hog back in July of 2009. 2.4ghz, 4GB RAM, and standard features the rest of the way. With a little tender love and care, it's still running great. It's been through 4 years of college, an absurb amount of music downloading and file transferring, CD burning, electronic music making, etc... this thing has been a beast for me. I bought it with Vista installed and then got the free upgrade for Windows 7 in late 2010 so it's been running 7 ever since.
Summary: I bought this laptop when I decided to go back to college. Seemed like it would be exactly what I needed. Sadly, this has not been the case. Initially, out of the box, everything was good and had no problems. Past 18 months has been a major pain. First problem: Anywhere across the bottom of the keyboard can act as a touch pad at times. Try writing a paper and all of a sudden your cursor is somewhere else and you have to go back and fix it.
Summary: Good well built attractive notebook especially if you can pick up a good used one reasonable note did not say cheap because people know these are better notebooks with the Dell name. This is my second 1555 in fact liked my first one quite a bit bought this one for little woman to use.
Summary: Highly recommended. Pro : 2 ear phone jacks Screen - HD (I configured) Reliability - Been using since May 2009. No major issue so far. Making - I have dis-assembled few times. All the components are top quality including the frame, plastic, metal and the design Battery still lasts me about 3 hours. (I have a 9cell) Cons : Ear phone jack that is used often gets corroded in about 2 years and sound is very clear. Optical drive is from TSST. Stopped working in 6 months.
Summary: Purchased this laptop three years ago. It was not cheap. Should have sent it back. Screen is flimsy. Hinge broke with normal operation. From the beginning, I have never been able to set the resolution to my liking. Recently had to reinstall windows do to a virus. Set up after reinstall was difficult. Machine is still not working correctly. After several days of frustration, I have decided to give it up. Won't buy another Dell.
The Stuiod 1555 runs great and I haven't had any issues!

Excerpt: Purchased this computer after having an Inspiron for 4 years at college. The Inspiron was alright, but I need something more powerful to handle the work I was doing - Adobe CS2 suite really isn't all that kind to computers with not a lot of power. Got the computer pretty quickly, about a week after I ordered it.
I love my Dell Studio 1555, it's a great computer!

Excerpt: I got this computer as a replacement of my old Inspiron (running Windows Vista) and as a laptop for college. Running Windows 7, this thing is a beast. It does everything I need it to do for school and it runs perfectly. I have had a few issues with my computer. The right click button on the touchpad broke, but with my warranty Dell came and fixed it. Also, the plastic on the frame broke near the hinge but it was also covered under warranty.
