Excerpt: I bought my husband the studio 15 laptop for christmas last year.He only had it about four months when it started shutting down or going into sleep mode while he was on it.If the screen (the lid) gets moved in the slightest way it either shuts down or goes into sleep mode. The laptop is kept on a computer stand or in his laptop bag so it has not been miss handled.
Excerpt: This laptop is terrible, and has convinced me not to buy Dell anymore. The touch-sensitive buttons above the keyboard are irritating. They rarely work, and they often light up on their own, sending your sound skyrocketing with no way to turn it down, or spitting our your CD randomly. This is a common problem with this laptop, as a quick Google search will turn up lots of other users who have the same problem, and very few have found solutions for it.
Excerpt: Being a price conscious consumer I had searched through saddles of web advertisements to finalise on this deal from deals to buy. After expereincing the product for over a month now,but let me tell you it wasn't the smartest buy i have made for sure. This laptop looks a cheap chinese version dressed up.The hardware looks good because of the configuaration i chose and the software(it runs on a windows7)looks more than reasonable too.But the body of the laptop is sucha turn...
Excerpt: i bought this unit a while back, and it wasnt very impressive. the bulk weight is a little heavier than most other laptops and its actually longer than a normal 15 inch. i tried fitting it into a 15 inch bag case and it would not go all the way in. Then theres the vista, because its a laptop, its memory is not really bangin.. but its also because vista is so user friendly and a laptop is a bit harder to manuver around without a mouse that it gets hard to function with.
Excerpt: My first impression of this computer was great but upon further inspection I am very disappointed in the quality of this product. First of all...the speakers on this laptop are horrible. Horrible is too good of a word to describe them. I've heard better sound out of tin cans. For the price I paid for my laptop, Dell could have used better speakers. My next biggest complaint is the plastic casing. It is cheap feeling and could easily break.
Excerpt: I purchased this laptop earlier last January. My biggest concern with it is it constantly overheating. Despite many efforts on my part to contact Dell about this issue, it just falls on deaf ears. I would strongly suggest not purchasing this laptop for that reason alone. The Dell Studio laptop is completely plastic and it's a bit on the heavy side in my opinion. Laptops should not be this heavy.
Had a horrible experience. Would never purchase a Dell again

Excerpt: Unfortunately this laptop did not live up to my expectations. Obviously it's looks are very nice, however its durability was appalling. After 2 months of having my laptop, the battery life began to last around 20 minutes. Which is absolutely ridiculous. I also experienced the hinge breaking on the laptop which made it a pain to carry around as it looked like a death trap.
Summary: I have the 2.2 dual core i5 chip and 4570 graphics card on the studio 1558 and this laptop is pretty good for music, gaming etc. However, windows 7 has been very glitchy and regularly crashes on me. the laptop also makes a lot of noise when it starts/wakes up which is especially annoying when it wakes itself up from sleep in the middle of the night! The laptop also gets very hot.
Pros: good performance, good for typing
Cons: Windows, very poorly built, heavy, noisy, gets hot
Summary: I have the 1537 Studio model. Given price category I expected better performance. First thing, the DVD player does not read discs. Having searched online, I've found that DVD problems are common to this model. The built-in speakers are simply abysmal, again confirmed by other users experiences, sounding tinny like an old transistor radio.
Pros: Basic functions ok
Cons: Too many flaws for a machine in this category.
