Summary: Bougth this from Jonesd4404, and he had sent me one of two he had. He sent me the wrong one which actually had a 20GB smaller Hard Drive, 3GB of RAM instead of 4GB of RAM, and only a DVD ROM instead of a DVD/CD-RW, though it did have a slightly faster Processor. I contacted Jonesd4404 and he gave me the option of either sending the computer back and he would either send me the other one or even go so far as to fix this one up and then return it back to me, or if I liked...
Excerpt: The Dell Company has a lot of packages that would blow up to mind of every enthusiastic procurer around the world. The introduction of the Dell Precision M6300, which is fill with a lot of functionality and performance in order to make business worth doing and convenient.
Summary: Anyone who purchases an item like this at this price point and can't troubleshoot, repair and upgrade themselves should not indulge in negative reviews. These are incredibly solid machines built rugged tough and simple like an old Chevy or Ford pickup. Dell still supports. They are easily repaired and upgraded within the constraints of the core engine and display. Inexpensive parts and upgrades available and it is super easy to work on even for a clutsey rookie.
Summary: I would have given 5 stars but the product was not exactly as advertised. It says it comes with 4GB of RAM and mine only comes with 2GB RAM. Luckily this is for someone who doesn't do much more then basic web browsing, e-mail etc. If Christmas wasn't around the corner, I might return and request an exchange for a laptop with 4GB RAM.
Selling at under $300 bucks on Ebay, it's amazing bang for the buck!

Summary: I've actually used this model for years - since it was first released. It's a powerful laptop and now that you can find them so cheap on Ebay, I've picked up two more. It runs Windows 7 very smoothly and probably the only drawback is that it tops out at 8GB of RAM.
DON'T ALWAYS EXPECT TO GET WHAT YOU THINK YOU HAVE BOUGHT.
10 July 2013
Summary: I BOUGHT THIS DELL PRECISION M 6300 17" NOTEBOOK - CUSTOMIZED, FOR $217.75. IT WORKED GOOD FOR 31 DAYS AND THEN IT JUST QUIT. THERE IS NO SOUND, SCREEN DOES NOT LIGHT UP, THE COMPUTER REPAIR SHOP SAID "IT IS NOT WORTH REPAIRING. IT WILL COST YOU MORE TO REPAIR IT THAN IT IS WORTH". I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A GOOD COMPUTER. I LIKED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT UNTIL IT QUIT WORKING. I DON'T HAVE ANOTHER ONE TO COMPARE IT WITH.
Summary: I already own a M6300, so I'm aware that it actually has an Intel Core 2 Duo T9500 2.60 GHz processor, which is what mine arrived with and not with the 2.20 GHz listed. It arrived with only 3 GB of RAM and not with the 4 GB listed. The built-in wireless device doesn't have software for Windows 7 and wouldn't establish a connection with my wireless modem/router, so I installed an external one that does work.
