Summary: I was a little skeptical at first, but once i received it I was blown away. Awesome laptop! I was really amazed at how fast the m4500 really is. My was also not as described but was in fact better. I initially ordered a dual core but received a quad core processor. I am really impressed at the quality of this machine!
Summary: I thought the problem specified in the other reviews would have been fixed, but no. I ordered the M4500 with the i7-620M processor, with integrated graphics listed in the description. What I got was an M4500 with an i7-740Q, and a separate Nvidia graphics card. The difference? The 620M is a dual-core @ 2.67GHz, the 740Q is a quad-core @ 1.73GHz. The 620M has integrated graphics and the 740Q does not, requiring a graphics card. Now, is this all a problem?
Summary: I've had many laptops. This is the highest spec (i7, 8gb, etc.) that I've owned, so I was looking forward to a solid, well-performing machine. This is the worst machine I've ever had (and my first/last Dell). It is way slower than my Toshiba i3 with 4gb, I mean really, really, slow. It takes 2 minutes to load Outlook! I let the 30 day return window go by unfortunately, but I already had to return this once due to poor shipping issues. I guess I'm stuck with it.
Summary: The description said it was an M4500 with 2.0Ghz 920 processor and 8 gig of RAM. First laptop received was 840 processor with 4 gig of RAM. Returned and they sent another one. Second unit had a 1.73Ghz 620 processor. It did have the advertised 8 gig of RAM. During the process they changed the item description on their webpage from 920 to 620. Very dishonest. I know these are slight differences to some but to an engineer specs are specs.
Summary: Thanks to another reviewer, I knew this model is not exactly as described but still really great for the price. Cosmetically looks like new except that an incorrect and well-used power cord was sent. Sent with a 500gb hard drive, which to me helps make up for it being a Q 840 and 1.87 ghz (again, not exactly as described). Only neg is low-end battery capacity (approx 1.5 hours). Wish the refurb process had removed the previous user name and networking info.
Summary: I love Dell products, and have used the Precision desktops in the past. I was a little concerned about the quality because it was a refurbished laptop, but I am extremely happy with it, and the price is amazing! The price of this laptop new can be up to over $2000! I work in IT, and this is one of the nicest Dell laptops I have ever used.
They don't make them like this anymore, a gem!

Summary: In comparison to the Dell 6500: This one is one size smaller, still has room for a half size ssd, gives you a choice to take out the cdrom drive and install a 2nd hdd in its place, a brilliant screen, i7, or i5 intel, both very capable of running cad software, or gaming, if that's your desire...excellent sound system totally flexible bios, excellent battery life..it is truly a Mercedes among laptops....
Summary: I am very pleased with the build quality and performance. I should point out, though that the one I received actually had an i7 Q 820 rather than the 920xm advertised, though this isn't much of an issue since they are virtually equal in performance. Also, to anyone buying this laptop, I would recommend installing the official dell touchpad drivers (just search google for "precision m4500 drivers" and it will be one of the downloads on the first page) as soon as possible,...
