In one word, Sturdy.

Yaasir K., Newegg

  • Summary: Mainly used for work. Got it refurbished. optical disk drive cover just fall off when I took it out the box. Also the content of the box were bare minimum. Just the laptop, charger and one single sheet of paper with instructions on how to activate windows. No manuals or driver disk.
  • Pros: * Solid construction (mostly. see other thoughts). Wouldn't put it the test by dropping it on the floor or anything but the frame has a nice heft to it. * Came with with windows 7 pro 64bit. I see that as a plus given that windows 10 is now the only option for new laptops. * 1920x1080 resolution,...
  • Cons: * slightly older model. * i5 struggles a bit with Google Chrome. I blame Chrome though. * only 4GB memory

Great for being refurbished.

Gabriel S., Newegg

  • Summary: -I actually saw another student at my school with the same laptop. -Yes I'd purchase this again. -The freakin' speck on the backlight.
  • Pros: -Good graphics, can run the SD client of World of Tanks at 80 fps. -WWAN card port in the back. -Overall pretty nice.
  • Cons: -Monitor wasn't secured in all the way, some of the plastic housing is bent outwards. -There's a black speck, most likely debris on the backlight. -I had to clean the keyboard and keys off because they were dirty. -It can't go into standby or hibernation because it hangs on the login screen. -SSD...

so far so good

Mark C., Newegg

  • Pros: Looks great. I have the exact same series PC issued by my company which is now four years old so can compare it to this "new" refurb, and the refurb looks new. Dell does a clever job with a plastic skin over the original metalized cover to hide any scratches and dings. Overall I'm impressed with ...

Ambivalence

Andrew G., Newegg
30 August 2015
  • Summary: My girlfriends Dell refurb came with a Dell OEM charger and was in a bit better condition. I also note that the product write-up clearly showed the DVD was read-only. All in all, at this point, I'm mildly disappointed. I might return it but I just don't know.
  • Pros: 1080P with 15" display. Appears fairly rugged. Tight hinges. Only one small nick on the inside case corner. Battery about 85% capability (could be worse)
  • Cons: Cheap non-oem charger. DVD player but no burner function. Battery about 85% capacity (could be better) Hard disk diagnostics shows 5+ years of wear. This really irks me. I wanted to upgrade to an SSD but the condition of this disk (one of the disk parameters is showing a warning) makes that upgra...

Quality business portable

Roberta W., Newegg
14 June 2015
  • Summary: In hindsight, I should have saved ~100 on purchase price and purchased similar unit with spinning hard drive, then upgrade myself to SSD. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong with these refurbished units for price to build quality.
  • Pros: SSD, Win 7 Pro, clean and in excellent condition,
  • Cons: A bit heavy and bulky. SSD's are at the end of their life cycle according to Apacer's SSD diagnostic software. Support from refurbish company is non existent. I had speaker issue with a 14inch model from the same builder. I ended up purchasing a pair from a well known online auction site and repl...

Decent Computer - Decent Price

Alexander H., Newegg
26 May 2015
  • Summary: Great machine overall. Even better price.
  • Pros: Can't beat the specs for the price! This machine new from Dell has to be $1200 or more. We buy tons of Dell laptops and since we found out the NewEgg has refurbed ones for a decent price we have been buying them here! I bought this one personally and it is a fantastic machine! Couldn't touch a ma...
  • Cons: Battery was no good when it arrived. NewEgg gave me a $25 giftcard for the trouble and the refurbisher sent me a replacement battery. Screen hinges were a little loose too - I tightend them up.

Excellent value

Dan F., Newegg
6 May 2015
  • Pros: Great looking display, i5 processor runs Win7 64 bit really nicely. Nice metal body, good keyboard layout with number pad. Runs the 3D modeling program Solidworks very well.
  • Cons: Surprised that this laptop does not have a camera or mic. I should have checked, but it didn't occur to me that anything is sold without those features. I will need a peripheral camera. Minor Annoyance: the spacebar squeaks.

User Review

STEVEN P., Newegg
6 April 2015
  • Summary: Bought it to supplement an aging business PC with low demands. Have to say it will suffice for it's intended function. Rated a 4 Egg due to no webcam and smaller capacity HD. Unexpectedly, however, it does have a full HD screen (1920x1080). Computer is fast and the employee will enjoy it.
  • Pros: Intel i5 Processor, Windows 7, Great Price
  • Cons: 3rd Generation Intel i5, No webcam, only a 320GB HD. Many laptops in this price range generally come with a Webcam and at least a 500GB HD

So Far So Good

Chris H., Newegg
26 March 2015
  • Pros: System is quick, and setup was quick. Didn't realize the LCD was going to be 1920x1080. I was super excited about that. For the price I'm not sure you can beat this if you're looking for a email\browser\light coding\light gaming laptop. I will be doubling memory to 8GB's and installing SSD once t...
  • Cons: I didn't expect it to be spotless being a refurb, but the DVDROM has major discoloration on it. Not sure what would make the plastic do that. The descriptive pictures beside all of the ports are worn off also. Luckily it's simple to know what they are for. I took 1 egg off for the strange looking...

Hulking, raw power

Joseph Dewey, Amazon
9 December 2014
  • Summary: This is a great laptop, and I liked it a lot. It's a powerhorse, with an i7 processor under the hood. Even though it's almost four years old, it still performs very well. It has 4 CPUs, each of which are powerful 2.7 GHz. It has a full sized keyboard and a full-sized number pad.
