Summary: I have great experiences with Dell related to both notebooks and servers. However over the last 2 years I have had horrendous results. I bought 6 e series notebooks for my business. 4 had major hardware failures within 12 months (mostly HD failures). Three consumer dells as well and all dead within 2 years. I don't expect much on the retail side but all 3??? I am not sure what happened to this company.
DO NOT BUY. Silver plastic causes skin to blister and open wounds.

Summary: I am on a project with 150+ consultants. We all have the Dell Latitude E6430. There is a silver plastic where your palms rest that causes the skin to blister and after 10 hours a day with your palms on the silver plastic the skin on your palms will develop blisters and open wounds as a result of resting on the dell plastic. I have put masking tape over the plastic where my palms rest and this has helped the blisters and wounds go away.
Summary: Our company recenlty made a switch to the Dell Latitude and I can safely say it is the worst laptop I have ever used presonaly or professionally. It constantly freezes or slows. The photo viewer freezes constantly and truly everything you use a computer for it is a step down in performace from what I am use to.
Summary: Purchased the E6430s a few months ago. It suffers from the same problem as earlier models. It will not wake from sleep occasionally. Also, when you close the lid, sometimes it does not hybernate or sleep - thinking the unit has gone into a low power mode, I put in my laptop case and find it nearly fried with heat an hour later. Try a different brand. Dell never figured how to fix this problem on my previous latitude and thought wise to carry along into the current model.

Summary: I made my purchases directly through Dell. I have been a loyal Dell customer since 1999. Prior to the Latitude E Series Lap Top Dell really had a reputation for building a machine that could be a dependable work-horse. I have purchased several E Series Latitude note books and I have to tell you. THESE MACHINES ARE POORLY MADE and WILL MALFUNCTION all the time. I have spent 100's of hours on the phone with tech support with the E series note books.
