Dell Inspiron M101z Notebook – Performs Well But, Worth Your Money?
4 December 2011
Summary: The M101z is priced at Rs. 29,900, which is probably one of the cheapest price brackets for a notebook. However, you have better performing notebooks like the IdeaPad Z570 which can score way better in performance and will only cost you a few thousands more.
Conclusion: With the Inspiron M101z , Dell has put a powerful subnotebook with an 11.6" HD screen on the market. The fast DDR3-RAM, which is however limited to 800 MHz, an ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics card and an AMD Athlon II Neo K325 processor make for good office performance. The subnotebook lends itself more to playing films and music or surfing the internet since the 3D performance is insufficient for gaming. For a broader range of use with a greater reserve of processing...
Pros: Good Performance (Office), Comfortable Keyboard, Modern Design, HDMI-Output, Adequate Battery Life, Speaker System, The design, the available color schemes, the good performance with Windows 7, adequate battery life and the available ports.
Cons: Screen Glare, Few Accessories Included, Heat and Noise, Case Prone to Scratches
Conclusion: There's plenty to like when it comes to Dell's Inspiron M101z. As far as 11.6in notebooks go, it's one of the best-looking and best-built systems we've come across. The chassis is rigid and finished with style and smooth curves, and both the keyboard trackpad are a pleasure to use.
Summary: These days the market certainly isn't lacking AMD-powered ultraportables, but the Dell Inspiron M101z is among the best models we've tested. It has a cooler look than the ThinkPad X100e while offering better performance and slightly longer battery life. We also like this laptop's keyboard and SRS-powered speakers.
Pros: Sleek design with multiple color options, Comfortable keyboard and touchpad, Strong audio quality, Good graphics performance for price
Cons: Battery life shorter than Intel competition, Below-average Wi-Fi performance, Runs a bit warm

Summary: The Dell Inspiron M101z ultraportable laptop is small and light and offers decent performance for everyday tasks. It's the type of notebook you should consider if you want something that's about the same size as a netbook, but which offers better performance. Our only quibble with this notebook is that its screen is of poor quality, but that's to be expected for such an inexpensive ultraportable. Overall, we like it.
Pros: Small and light, good keyboard and touchpad, HDMI, decent performance, good battery life
Cons: Screen is too glossy, screen contrast isn't great, screen's lowest brightness level is still too bright
