Dell 5150

talonda574, Ebay
4 February 2013
  • Summary: I think the Dell 5150 is a very good starter laptop for the new comer, and for the younger student. I buy damaged laptops repair them and resell them. I have bought and sold several Dell 5150 laptops, like I said to beginners, and to younger students. If you are a beginner or you just want to get the kids off your computer and get them their own this is a great buy.

Very poor build quality ruined this laptop!!

  • Excerpt: "...point during this time did dell apologise, and when my two year warranty ran out the wanted £500 to repair the same problem again! Dell customer service was a joke as well. Having to spend over an hour on the phone each time the laptop broke doing the same diagnostics, whilst trying to talk to people who can hardly understand English was frustrating to say the least. Not only that one time my laptop came back after two weeks of being repaired, ...

Dell 5150 3.06Ghz (P4 HT), 80Gb/512Mb DVD+R

ilaskey, Ciao
15 February 2007
  • Excerpt: "...around, it seemed like the Dell 5150 fitted the bill. The price was too high though so I kept an eye on Dell's refrurbished/cancelled orders site, Dell Outlet until one turned up at about 35% off the list price. Deal done. I got a free wireless keyboard/mouse, free USB memory stick and reduced delivery in to the bargain. The machine is a couple of years old now so some of the spec isn't exactly leading edge but at the time it was state of the art: 3.06Ghz ...

  • Excerpt: "...for example. I repeat, though Dell no longer stock this model, do not buy it privately or elsewhere, you will be wasting your money. It is cheap, but Dell Technical Support is unbelievably disgraceful. The laptop itself is very dull (blue and grey), has an average screen, though not bad quality. The keyboard has a terrible layout and the touchpad is diabolical. The worst feature of this laptop is probably the battery life, it usually only ...

A very impressive laptop

  • Excerpt: "I love my Dell Inspiron 5150! This is an excellent laptop and has replaced my old desktop brilliantly. The screen size and quality is very good and the keyboard has a good feel and is very durable. The overall style of the laptop is very impressive. At 40GB the hard drive may be considered fairly small by today's standards, but it has proved to be more than enough for me over the last 2 years. My laptop has 256MB of memory and this is enough ...

Great laptop

  • Excerpt: "...owned however, I chose a Dell because I had purchased/used/maintained many of them in my role at the time - Tech Support. I dont consider them to be the top of the line but I think they are certainly in the top few. I have only ever had good experiences with the Dell support and the one time that I needed a replacement part for my laptop it arrived immediately. In regards to value for money, I was not able to find another product that came anywhere ...

A true Desktop replacement

Toblerone..., Ciao
21 July 2005
  • Excerpt: "I purchased my Dell Inspiron 5150, December 2003 and since that time it has served me very well as a versatile notebook computer. The fast Intel processor (with HT technology) running at 3.06Ghz is still considered to be a very quick speed even almost 2 years after i purchased it. It performs very well with all CPU demanding programs, such as the Adobe creative suite. The hard drive size on mine is 40GB but is is upgradeable, to as much as you ...

Backward Compatible Issues

2 September 2004
  • Excerpt: "...down the route of the Dell Inspiron 5150 assuring me that Dell, being a world-renowned brand, would be able to suit my needs. Desperate for a machine with significant performance power the 2.8 ghz processor on paper seemed fast enough to cater for my applications and an (rather expensive) upgrade on the RAM to 1gb sorted any memory issues. Finally, the 60gb hard disk provided enough space for all my local storage needs and so I relented and agreed ...
