Summary: This is a very attractive and easy to use laptop. But, beware, do not go on looks. We had to repair the same 3 times in the first year and had to pay $200 to extend the warranty for the second year. Within 6 months the monitor screen crashed and within a month after that the motherboard crashed. This is the worst laptop I have ever had. Highly recommend not to buy!
Summary: I am going out of my way to warn all future purchasers of my horrible experience with Dell and this computer. I purchased this labtop two years ago from Dell at a premium with the extended warranty on the hardware and software I thought. Within 24 hours of receiving this computer, it crashed.

Summary: I wish I could rate this product with half of a star if that. I purchased this computer on Black Friday 2010. I thought its a Dell and it was a great price. I should have bought anything BUT a Dell. I have had this computer for 2 years and the hard drive has given out 3 times. I have lost everything 3 times (mind you I should have bought an external hard drive the first time so that part is my fault) however I bought this product for basic everyday use such as surfing...
Summary: O.K. received a Dell Inspiron 1545 last christmas. Was going back to college and needed something of my own since with 2 kids I couldnt get to the office computer at home. 5 months after receivng the computer. The harddrive crashes In the middle of stdying for my A&P 1 class. The screen goes black. Had all my contacts on it. Had family photos on it and some papers that I had worked on the whole weekend all gone!!! Granted I should of backed it up thats my fault.
Summary: The 1545 I bought a year and half ago ($500) has already failed. It began to freeze, now it won't start up at all. I was very happy with the performance for the first year, no problems. But I don't intend on replacing parts after only a year and a half. The price has dropped considerably on this laptop, perhaps because of the bad reviews. You get what you pay for, but Dell lost a customer!
Summary: I got ripped off by dell two times off the same computer. One was with the Windows 7 upgrade I was suppossed to get. Long story, I got hosed, but they actually had the gall to say that my computer didn't qualify when I can still see the d%$#@ sticker at Best Buy saying that I got it. I actually recorded that conversation. I wouldn't mind that, especially given MS track record.
Summary: I'm a college student and decided to purchase my own laptop so I wouldn't have to share a computer with my mom and brother. I bought this one because at the time, it was a highly rated laptop and the price fit my budget. I can't say I am happy with my decision to purchase it. The settings when you first buy it are messed up to where the touch pad is extremely sensitive and there's a "zoom" function that will scroll the screen easily as you try to navigate the website.
My last Dell purchase--There's a reason there are more 1-star reviews than all other reviews!

Summary: My wife and I have been loyal Dell customers over 10 years and four machines. All our previous machines have performed well and we have never had much reason to call customer service for anything. The few times we did (years and years ago) were reasonably pleasant experiences, though. My impression of Dell has always been that they are a solid company that produces solid products. Not now. This laptop, which is my wife's, has been nothing but a nightmare from day one.
Summary: I bought my Inspiron 1545 last October when I had major hardware issues with my last laptop that couldn't be fixed (the laptop was four years old and the parts were not manufactured anymore), and I have had problems with it from less than a month after I bought it until now. I have had to replace my DC port twice - and I'm not just a klutzy person. I've never dropped my laptop, I unplug the power cord nicely, etc. and I still have problems with this.
