Summary: I've owned my Inspiron 1525 for about four years. This thing didn't work correctly right out of the box. Since I have owned the computer there has been an issue with the wireless card causing the computer to crash and restart if you try and shut down or hibernate with wifi connected.
Summary: Had gotten a long term job assignment out of state and bought this laptop for use in my hotel room. I havent really used it without plugging it in. I would have to say on average during the week its on about 4-6 hours a day and on the weekends between 6 - 10 hrs a day.
Summary: I can't remember the specifics of the older model Dell laptop I had for four years, but I loved it & it treated me well. The only reason I bought a new one was because the hard drive popped out of the old one, & before I realized it could just be popped back in I had already ordered the 1525.
Summary: PLEASE DO NOT BUY A DELL!!! I have had nothing but problems since I have gotten my laptop. I had to send it in 4 times under warranty to get it fixed. The final time I sent it in, they kept it until my warranty expired, so then when I realized it wasn't fixed, they told me they couldn't to anything...
Summary: If I had NOT bought an additional 3yr warranty, I would have been SCREWED! My motherboard had to be replaced 5x in 4 years, all because the power connector would slowly loosen from the motherboard, preventing you from charging OR from computing.
Summary: I gave this two stars instead of one only because up until the hard drive failed, it worked great. Then, bam, everything was gone. My last back up was a few months ago. I thought, oh, it's almost new, it couldn't crash yet. I had a Dell in 2001 for grad school.
Summary: I got this laptop as a reward for excellent work... but about 2 months after getting it, well, I was wondering if somebody was out to get me, well at least to frustrate my success at any rate. The laptop started having problems.
Summary: Just Google Dell 1525 battery problem and see how many hits you get. No help from Dell on this, I don't think they know the answer except to replace the mother board, AC adapter and battery. For that kind of money you can get an HP or Toshiba.
Summary: Noisy fan. No contrast control button or soft-key on the keyboard. No contrast adjustment function in the Display Settings dialog window (which, BTW, Windows Vista stupidly nested under "Personalization Settings" in the Control Panel directory.
