Summary: I have owned my Inspiron 15R for about a month and am very satisfied. Exterior case is very well done, the cover is secure when closed and opens solidly and no flimsy hinge issues. The wrist pad area is well thought out and the touch pad is responsive without being spotty or jerky - very fluid. I prefer to use a cordless mouse and there are ample of USB ports.
Summary: I purchased my Dell Inspiron 5547 to run SolidWorks, Adobe products, Maya, and other 3D applications, in addition to the other standard office applications. I considered the Alien series, but too bulky and I am an older person, I don't need all the flash. The machine has the new Intel processor, new low power, and high performance processor, thanks to Intel's latest process technology, it is a real asset for this arrangement.
Summary: I bought the Inspiron 15 3000 (I think the actual model name is Inspiron 3542, but anyway) as a replacement for our old family Inspiron from 5 years ago which was starting to show signs of failure, and to be honest I feel that this is a great product. I don't know why so many reviews give it such bad scores.
Summary: The Inspiron 5000 has a nice look and style to it. The silver finish is beautiful. It is a bit heavy. Definitely look for something lighter if you plan to carry it around much. My main complaint is the amount of time it takes for it to "wake up" from a sleep state. After I close the lap top, or it goes to sleep after inactivity, it takes a good minute (or longer) before it wakes up. My old Dell latitude only takes a few seconds.
Summary: The product was working fine for two years, for the price, except for a few minor hardware problems in Windows 7, e.g. headphones wouldn't work unless they're plugged in at the moment when system loads, BT buggy behavior was also observed.
Summary: I would have given it 4 stars except I had to hunt for updates to fix all the problems it had right out of box. Found them on intel which is not mentioned here. Sleep mode wouldn't wake until update, wifi signal weak until update, graphics was OK but better after update. I am still adjusting to touch screen (only complaint now is I still not have found how to keep on screen keyboard from popping up every time I touch), and Win 8.1 (it is totally different from 7 so am...
