The anodized alunimium Alienware m17x gaming notebook is powered by a 1 GB nVidia GeForce GTX260M GPU with upgradeable options to dual 1 GB nVidia GeForce GTX 280M GPUs to support graphic needs. It is supported also supported by an nVidia GeForce 9400M G GPU with HybridPower technology, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz P8600 CPU (upgradeable to a Core 2 Extreme Quad Core CPU) and has 4 GB of RAM (up to 8 GB of 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM). The M17x has a 250 GB 7200 rpm hard disk drive (upgradeable to a 1 TB 7200-rpm or to 512 MB of solid-state storage capacity [Raid 1 or Raid 0]; users can swap out hard drives by removing the battery). The M17x also features a slot-loading DVD-RW drive (upgradeable to dual-layer Blu-ray Disc), a nine-cell battery, 802.11n Wi-Fi and an optional 1920 x 1200-resolution edge-to-edge LCD display. The gaming notebook measures 15.98 x 2.11 x 12.65 inch and weighs 11.68 lbs. The M17x has a recommended retail price of $2399.

Features

The Alienware M17x is a 17 inch gaming notebook that is supported by the NVidia GeForce graphics card (GTX260M GPU). Users have the option to upgrade this gracphic card to to dual 1 GB nVidia GeForce GTX 280M GPUs . It also supports HybridPower technology with switchable graphics card to an nVidia GeForce 9400M G GPU to provide users with scaled-down graphics when the dual-card power is not needed). The notebook houses a four-pin FireWire port, four USB plugs, an eSATA/USB combo port, an ExpressCard Slot, and an eight-in-one Media Card reader. The M17x also features a DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA video-outs, audio-out jacks for external surround sound, two built-in speakers. The Alienware M17x runs the Windows Vista Home Premium operating system and has an optional Blu-ray optical drive that allows users to run Blu-Ray media. With its high definition mutilmedia interface (HDMI) output, users can connect the M17x to an home theatre system and enjoy Blu-ray movies on the big screen. The 17 inch display on this notebook runs at 1920 × 1200 pixel resolution. The notebook also supports backlit keyboard (optional upgrade) and SLI video. External connections include four USB slots, a ExpressCard/54 slot, a card reader, HDMI, 1394A, 1394B, ethernet, S-video, optical out, HDTV tuner, headphones, microphone, and audio out and two FireWire connections. The integrated webcam and microphone allows users to stay connected with friends and family.
