Dell Adamo XPS

CNET
19 April 2014
  • Summary: Dell's high-concept Adamo XPS deserves credit for taking some serious design risks. It's a cool conversation piece, but poor battery life keeps it from being terribly useful.
  • Cons: Weak battery life; large footprint; no SD card slot.

Review Dell Adamo XPS Notebook

Notebookcheck
11 October 2010
  • Conclusion: In order to make such a thin case a reality, Dell had to make a few compromises.  The tilt of the keyboard and the at times unstable footprint resulting from it could  conflict with some habits and demands. Though the standard display is bright, it suffers due to its reflective surface and the user's dependence on the viewing angle. Space issues mean that UMTS, eSata, a Cardreader and an ExpressCard drive are not integrated.
  • Pros: Very flat, Very quiet, Very cool, High quality materials, Good mobility, Good application performance, Digital screen connection, Very thin, very quiet, upscale materials together with good application performance.
  • Cons: Reflextive display surface, stationary display, limited stability, no UMTS available, 40-Wh battery not available in Europe, limited battery life, small flaws in the workmanship on our tester, few interfaces, A more suitable display, more stable stance and the 40-Wh battery.

  • Summary: The Dell Adamo XPS is one of the most beautiful gadgets money can buy. But you’ll need around £1,750 just to get the basic model. And what you’re essentially nabbing is a very slick looking, more powerful netbook. Yes, it’s impossibly gorgeous, but if you value brains over sexy looks, then perhaps the Adamo XPS isn’t for you.

Dell Adamo XPS

LAPTOP Magazine
6 March 2010
  • Summary: Just as supermodels can’t eat cheeseburgers, some sacrifices had to be made in order to keep the Adamo XPS as thin as it is. Its battery life is subpar for such a thin and light notebook, and its performance is equal to systems that cost half as much.
  • Pros: Extremely thin, Stylish innovative design, Good sound quality, Quick boot time,
  • Cons: Short battery life, Mediocre Wi-Fi range, Battery hard to remove,

  • Summary: When Dell released the original Adamo they packaged it in a rather impressive clear case which really provided some wow factor for those who purchased it. For the latest Adamo XPS a less exciting box is used but this leaves the machine to impress the consumer and from the moment we set eyes on the system we were very impressed. The Adamo XPS is a fantastic looking laptop which really stands out from the crowd.

Dell Adamo XPS review

Stuff.tv
22 June 2010
  • Summary: It seems a long time ago that Dell was known only for its highly customisable but terminally dull range of business laptops. In recent years it’s splashed out on Alienware, opened the ‘Design Studio’ and, more recently, crafted the rather beautiful premium ‘Adamo’ range. While the original Adamo was an attack on Apple’s MacBook Air , the Adamo XPS is seemingly more interested in undermining the laws of physics.

Dell Adamo XPS

ZDNet

  • Excerpt: Dell's Adamo brand of notebooks emphasise design as well as mobility, and its latest offering seems to have an abundance of both. But will breaking tradition help the Adamo XPS trump the MacBook Air?

Dell Adamo XPS (Intel Core 2 Duo ULV 1.4GHz)
