great design, average performance, terrible touchpad
13 July 2014
Summary: The Asus Zenbook looks very stylish and professional. I'm very pleased with its design, love the matte screen. Though, it is a little slow in running programs. The thing that annoys me the most is the touch pad, which does not always work. sometimes the mouse just stop working. sometime I can use the two fingers to zoom in/out, or go up/down but not always. that is pretty terrible for a brand new laptop after a day of use.
Summary: Purchased months ago, so now it's time to review. For the most part, it does the job. Daily internet searching, emails, paying bills, etc. Most annoying is the keyboard. I must type with my hands above any lower section or it inserts letters in the wrong place, (i.e. back in the middle of previous sentences)...That's the only negative I can report. It's a home computer:) Does have a nice trim framing, looks OK setting on the desktop. Battery life is OK..
Summary: Included NIC is only 100Mbit, wireless seems to be 802.11g speed. Shuts down once in a while out of the blue after running about 5 minutes. Nice screen. Keyboard kinda sucks, tends to not register keystrokes unless you type slowly. Price paid seems a bit steep for the result.
Summary: kinda heavy for its size but definitely portable. i got a odd issue with the wifi adapter not working after standby after updating to windows 8.1 but that may be a windows issue. Too bad the wifi card is not easy to replace because the internal antenna connectors are smaller than all other internal wifi cards use. I installed windows 8.1 on the 24gb internal ssd and using the 320gb hdd for storage. battery life is great.
Summary: Good value for our money. A little slow at times, I'd say it gets stuck more than a 4GB-RAM computer is expected to. Most likely that's down to the i3 processor. Just make your call: value, lower-performance i3 vs more expensive and higher performing processors.
Summary: First the good; this laptop has a fantastic screen. Great resolution, excellent colors, wonderful display over all. It is light, looks nice, has a comfortable keyboard, good hand-rests when typing, resumes from sleep rapidly, stays cool while running, and (despite other reviews) the track-pad is just fine. The sounds is about what you'd expect from something so thin, but decent for all that.
Summary: After about a weeks use of this laptop I have encountered some issues. The first problem I expereinced was the wifi. A few times a day I would be automatically disconnected from the internet even though I am about 5 feet away from my router. The second problem I had was the box. The box that my ultra book came in displayed another model of the machine. It was similar, but not the same.
