Very good Windows 8

Danbury Steve, Amazon
22 January 2015
  • Summary: Very good Windows 8.1 touch screen. Very fast, reliable and so far problem free. My only complaint is a minor one; the touch pad is very sensitive and difficult to adjust to my specific preferences. Touch pads on both the MacBook Pro and Toshiba Kirabook are supior in this regard, but otherwise the Zenbook is competitive with either, and has a slightly better price point.

plus it looks great too, so I ordered it

Ricardo Cruz "Baumeister", Amazon
22 October 2014
  • Summary: After a lot of research this was the only notebook I could find with i-7 processor, 500Gb SSD hard drive and higher than 1920 x 1080 display resolution, plus it looks great too, so I ordered it. I confess I was a little worried because of previous experiences with my two ASUS notebooks, as both of them had problems since I first turned them on the first time.

Almost returned because of screen brightness issue

R. Beck, Amazon
11 September 2014
  • Summary: I just got this Ultrabook in the mail today and was ready to return it. The brightness on the screen absolutely stinks! I turned the brightness all the way up but it still looked VERY dim to me. Guess what? ASUS has this setting enabled by default on the ultrabook that automatically controls your brightness! Even if you turn your brightness all the way up, it STILL won't show off the full potential!! SO HERE'S HOW TO FIX THE BRIGHTNESS ISSUE: 1.

Love it!!!

Len Monte, Amazon
9 September 2014
  • Summary: I have this laptop since May and the first thing you will notice is that it is silent. Under normal operation i.e. surfing the web, watching videos, downloading movies, working in word/excel i can barely notice it is on, I dont use it for gaming so maybe under a heavier load it might be noiser. its also cool, doesnt heat up in your lap.

Classy Chasis

Ulysses4, B&H Photo
31 August 2014
  • Excerpt: Still early in the process of getting used to my new laptop-but the initial fears are gone. Despite some reviews elsewhere to the contrary, the build quality is excellent. The lightweight and durable frame is just what I wanted. It's lightning fast and the setup was easy. The switch from Microsoft 8.0 to 8.1 was a little tedious but smooth. A very solid keyboard and so far relatively easy to navigate. It stays cool and is very quiet.
  • Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Fast, Lightweight, Quality Display, Quiet

  • Summary: Fast fast, only complaint is the sound quality and built in speakers. The 1st generation Zenbook was much better.

Some small initial problems, but worth it in the end. Great Laptop.

doug hall, Amazon
27 July 2014
  • Summary: There were some initial problems with windows update and wifi, but it was worth it once working perfectly. The build quality is impeccable, most people have macbooks in college, so they see this laptop and say "ooooooh, what's that?" The i5 is perfectly acceptable for web browsing, movies, typing and very light gaming. The touchscreen is useful, but I find myself using the trackpad the most, since gestures work well and it has a smooth, pleasing feel.

Smart looking, fast with super screen but still has wireless card issue

Melanie Reimer, Amazon
24 July 2014
  • Summary: Had it for two weeks now and it is a fine machine, decent battery, good keyboard/track pad, fast starting/resuming and outstanding screen but the ambient light sensor is quirky, as discussed in other reviews. Do not think it is confined to ASUS as friends with other computer makes have the same comments. Considering disabling the ambient sensor.

Everything a laptop should be

Mr. C, Amazon
6 June 2014
  • Summary: So far so good. Have the laptop for over a few months now. Operates smoothly -- no lag and is very quick. The screen is beautiful and bright. The keyboard is comfortable, but squeaks a little (hence the 4-stars), but I can live with it. Battery does not last 8 hours. Real world usage is around 4 hours and depends on your usage habits (another reason for 4-stars).
