Summary: Very good Windows 8.1 touch screen. Very fast, reliable and so far problem free. My only complaint is a minor one; the touch pad is very sensitive and difficult to adjust to my specific preferences. Touch pads on both the MacBook Pro and Toshiba Kirabook are supior in this regard, but otherwise the Zenbook is competitive with either, and has a slightly better price point.
Summary: After a lot of research this was the only notebook I could find with i-7 processor, 500Gb SSD hard drive and higher than 1920 x 1080 display resolution, plus it looks great too, so I ordered it. I confess I was a little worried because of previous experiences with my two ASUS notebooks, as both of them had problems since I first turned them on the first time.
This is a great laptop; however, paint/coating is flaking off.

Summary: This is, hands down, the best laptop I have ever purchased. Great keyboard, touchpad, graphics, and WiFi. The overall build quality is fantastic; however, there is one glaring quality issue. I've been using this laptop regularly since June and the area where my right wrist comes in contact with the edge of the base when typing is wearing off the dark blue coating covering the base and shiny metal is showing.
Almost returned because of screen brightness issue

Summary: I just got this Ultrabook in the mail today and was ready to return it. The brightness on the screen absolutely stinks! I turned the brightness all the way up but it still looked VERY dim to me. Guess what? ASUS has this setting enabled by default on the ultrabook that automatically controls your brightness! Even if you turn your brightness all the way up, it STILL won't show off the full potential!! SO HERE'S HOW TO FIX THE BRIGHTNESS ISSUE: 1.
Summary: I have this laptop since May and the first thing you will notice is that it is silent. Under normal operation i.e. surfing the web, watching videos, downloading movies, working in word/excel i can barely notice it is on, I dont use it for gaming so maybe under a heavier load it might be noiser. its also cool, doesnt heat up in your lap.
Excerpt: Still early in the process of getting used to my new laptop-but the initial fears are gone. Despite some reviews elsewhere to the contrary, the build quality is excellent. The lightweight and durable frame is just what I wanted. It's lightning fast and the setup was easy. The switch from Microsoft 8.0 to 8.1 was a little tedious but smooth. A very solid keyboard and so far relatively easy to navigate. It stays cool and is very quiet.
Some small initial problems, but worth it in the end. Great Laptop.

Summary: There were some initial problems with windows update and wifi, but it was worth it once working perfectly. The build quality is impeccable, most people have macbooks in college, so they see this laptop and say "ooooooh, what's that?" The i5 is perfectly acceptable for web browsing, movies, typing and very light gaming. The touchscreen is useful, but I find myself using the trackpad the most, since gestures work well and it has a smooth, pleasing feel.
Smart looking, fast with super screen but still has wireless card issue

Summary: Had it for two weeks now and it is a fine machine, decent battery, good keyboard/track pad, fast starting/resuming and outstanding screen but the ambient light sensor is quirky, as discussed in other reviews. Do not think it is confined to ASUS as friends with other computer makes have the same comments. Considering disabling the ambient sensor.
