Summary: Been having trouble with it switching resolution after it goes to standby mode which causes my games to not load properly... i have to power off and power on for it to fix it... can't handle WoW on max settings even... so much for HD graphics. max resolution is 1600x900...
Summary: My 3-star rating may reflect more my frustration with Windows 8 than the machine itself. I tried to link it to a friend's projector for my video presentation, but my ASUS wouldn't "talk" to his projector. So we had to disconnect mine and use his to laptop, so I could do my presentation. I may change my mind, but as of now, I loathe Windows 8 and am thinking about installing Windows 7. I may change my mind as I work (struggle?) with Windows 8.
Summary: This is a decent laptop for the price. But would I buy it again? No, not if I could afford to spend more. I bought this to replace my Dell 1720 Inspiron. Here's the thing: If you only have five hundred bucks to spend, this is a good buy. But you're going to hate the trackpad with a passion. It's probably the worst design, ever.
Works great, price is right, but too bulky and a nightmare BIOS

Summary: Pros: Very fast. Great price. 1 Year Accidental Damage Protection from ASUS. Cons: Too bulky. They could have made the LCD frame and palmrest smaller - not sure why they made it so big. Also, the BIOS is the worst I have ever worked with. Trying to set it up to boot from the CD or boot to install a legacy OS is very difficult, even for me, a laptop repair and sales tech with 8 yrs experience working on laptops of all shapes and sizes!
Summary: Left Shift key died after a month, USB ports don't always function with older devices that worked fine on Windows 7. I'd give the hardware a 3 out of 5, Asus support a 4 and Windows 8 starts at a 2 but once you figure it out it's a 4. Hopefully, after it's repaired, it will outlast my old Gateway, which died after about 4 yrs.
Summary: Lacking a few things that would have made this computer top notch. Pros Quick start up Windows 8 runs pretty smooth Nice feel Great display runs cool Cons Speakers are very hard to hear and face downwards- poor design Bluetooth is a nightmare Blue tooth to speakers is a bigger nightmare Comes with bloatware-not too much but still an annoyance I have had some flickers on windows and a little lagging Over all it is an okay computer and a good deal for the price.
Summary: Construction seems solid, keyboard is OK. Windows 8 is about to convert me to Apple. Is MS really trying to lose customers? This laptop runs slower with Win8 than my 6 year old desktop running Vista.
Summary: I needed a laptop with a large screen because I use it as my desktop and attach another monitor to it for working on spreadsheets for our insurance brokerage. The display is OK but not magnificent it would be nice to have some knobs to control the contrast and color as it is a bright display but kind of washed out.
Summary: when i opened the box, keep in mind this was "brand new", there was a hand print on the screen, hand rest marks beside the keypad. its a nice laptop. also when shipped it was in a box with the laptop box resting on the box only and air filled "pillows" on top...how that protects the laptop idk... As far as performance, this laptop is GREAT!!!! The only downside is that its running windows 8... In my opinion windows 8 should ONLY be on tablets and touch screen monitors.
