Summary: ASUS like many other PC makers ships their machines with a bunch of bloatware. The people responsible for this are out of touch. Windows 8 is actually good. I did not notice a significant change in 8.1. Restoring the Windows Start button is almost a joke. I miss hitting the Windows Logo button, seeing the start menu, few movements of the arrow keys and I am at the Documents folder, Control Panel or My Computer. Other than this Windows 8 in general is really decent.
Summary: Overall I like the computer but the track pad is so sensitive that by merely resting my left wrist on the computer - it swishes the window that I am working on away and I have to search for it. Windows 8 is probably the biggest issue as it is a totally unintuitive operating system and requires extra steps for simple functions. You have to completely exit a document just to save it.
Alright for the price, but my last Asus was better

Summary: This laptop was purchased to replace a 2 year old ASUS laptop. As an aside ASUS absolutely honors their no questions asked 12 month warranty - I used it on the last one and it was painless. That's what earned this purchase when it came time to replace the laptop (I killed it - got wet). Overall the speed is what was expected, everything works as expected. That's the good. The bad: 1) I HATE Windows 8, but that's not their fault.
Summary: The laptop was good but it auto close when I go to skype. The sound was good and it really instant on my pc. Cons is only 2 usb port is available. I am really in love with this laptop despite the screen is 15.6 inches. IF you want a pc for basic use, this laptop is suitable for you.
Summary: Anyone who bought the machine please check whether it came with hard drive capacity as described on the website. I ordered 500 GB hard drive but it came only 250 GB although sticker says 500. If you are not a computer guy check Microsoft how to check the capacity. The machine itself is OK for the price but don't expect speed. If you are after everyday notebook use not games or a lot of info to process this would be good choice.
Summary: Now that i've eventually got rid of the dodgy software that came with the laptop it's absolutely fine. I guess it helps keep Asus prices down but while it may not be malware, there is a lot of stuff that keeps popping up trying to sell you something you don't need - and some of it isn't that easy to get rid of. Fortunately there's plenty of advice available on line to help you decice how to deal with these issues.
