Summary: Solid construction with high quality components make this budget laptop comparable to more expensive machines. My only complaint is all of the all of the ports are on the sides of the computer and not in the back which can make for a cumbersome work space if you are charging, connected to your smartphone, using a second monitor and connected to a printer.
Summary: I like most things about the laptop. The aluminum case seems to stay cool even after long use. The laptop came with Windows 7, which is what I wanted. (Windows 8 needs to be dumped by Microsoft ASAP!) The 3.0 USB port is very fast. It seems like I move files back and forth between the hard drive and a flash drive almost instantly. The screen is very readable. The computer came with enough RAM (4 gb) to suit my needs and a large enough hard drive.
Summary: I bought this computer to replace a 5 year old laptop that I had. So far I have been very pleased with my new laptop. I did contact ASUS customer support about a small problem that I was having with the laptop, and was very dissatified with the lack of knowledge of the customer service representative and their inability to give me a satisfactory answer to my problem. I was eventually able to correct the problem myself.
Summary: I bought this Asus to replace an aging PC which used Windows XP and have been very pleased with the laptop. There is a caveat to this in that the machine comes with Windows 8 installed which for me is not great having been used to XP. However, I have upgraded to Win 8.1 which is free and much better in general terms - but here is the rub: since the upgrade have lost the Asus Install drivers and can't find any information to help me on the Asus support site.
