Summary: Many negative reviews due to it having WIndows 8, which is ridiculous - the OS is not at all bad or that different than 7. Having read the reviews and seeing that the largest complaint was the operating system, I figured I'd give it a go. Huge regret. I am disappointed in ASUS.
Pros: - Instant on works great
Cons: - Finicky charging, doesn't recognize charger upon plugin and won't charge. Needs a restart or two with charger plugged in before it takes to charge
Summary: This is easily the worst computer I've ever bought. I know that sounds like hyperbole, but here's why: - The mouse cursor randomly resets itself every 1-5 minutes. If I'm typing, suddenly the cursor will move and I'll be typing on another part of the page. Think of how annoying that is every 1-5 minutes. (And I know how to type and not rest my palm on the touchpad.) - It freezes if you try to move between windows by clicking on the bottom bar.
less than a year of light use - screw fell out, pads on bottom fell off, key randomly got weird

Summary: i'm not sure if it's windows 8 or asus, but i have also had lots of problems with crashing/freezing/deleting parts of files that i had saved. one file i had been writing in for months daily, and it was turned to nothing but spaces. this might have been due to a bug from Evernote software interacting with what i can only say is the terrible, relationship-with-windows-ending Windows 8.
Summary: DO NOT GET THIS LAPTOP. This is by far the worst of any electronic item that I have ever used or owned. The spacebar barely works. Even if I hit it really hard, it only registers about 1/2 of the time. Other than that, the build is obviously cheap and poor quality, not to mention that it runs windows 8, which is a whole other issue. I wouldn't pay $20 for this laptop if it were offered for sale at that price. Save yourself the trouble and buy anything else.
Summary: I do not usually leave reviews for anything but this computer is garbage. I had mostly heard good things about ASUS so when i was looking for a cheap laptop for school I didn't feel as scared spending so little on this laptop. My girlfriend helped pay for this as part of my birthday less then a year ago. A few months ago it began experiencing significant problems.
Summary: I'm writing this review on the laptop I just received and the keys feel a little cheap but the form factor and the decent screen and the rest of the laptop seem very solid and for what your getting under the hood I think its worth it. The laptop is very quiet and the fan barely comes. The harddrive is fricken silent vs the samsung and the software can be updated without having to be approved by asus.
