This was a refurbished notebook and I was disappointed and disillusioned almost from the start

Summary: Power input shredded inside; power cable frayed at input. screen jumped and opened/closed windows randomly ; mouse and touchpad stopped or moved cursor unpredictably. I'm not sure the windows/touchpad things wer Asus's doing -- probably Windows 8.
Summary: This laptop will run Ubuntu with some Windows 8 rigging, but it works great running Linux. I have no idea if Windows works well on it as I never use it. Great little laptop. Its pretty durable too, my 10 yo son uses it daily to play minecraft and watch you tube.
TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW NOT TO WASTE THEIR MONEY ON ASUS AND ACER NOTEBOOKS

Summary: This laptop is poorly made. It lasts only a bit more than a year, exactly when the warranty expires and at which time ASUS the company refuses to offer any hint of support. The battery lasts only a bit more than a year and stops powering on.
Summary: After 15 months of very gentle use the case by one of the hinges on the screen side is badly cracked. The laptop will be increasingly fragile and difficult to open and close due to this defect, and it's just over a year old. We Googled it and found out we're not the only one with this issue.
Summary: Definitely good for the price. the non user-removable battery is a bit of a hassle in case it needs to be replaced. There have also been a few instances where the mouse pad would not respond and the pointer would just stay stuck in the middle of the screen.
