Summary: I feel it's important to WARN people from this purchase. The first one sent to me had a scratch. The next one was super slow, but since I'm not tech savvy, I thought it was me. A friend checked it (after 90 days I'm stuck with it) and it's now been sent to ASUS for repair. When I arrived at the post office, the man said he had the address memorized because he'd already sent 3 back this week! Windows 8 and 8.1 are horrible. Ordinary computer users should BEWARE!
Piece of garbage, touch screen buggy after a month.
25 December 2013
Summary: One month into using this piece of garbage regret the touch screen goes insane and ghost touches everywhere on the left hand side of the screen. I can't move the mouse to go do anything because it just clicks wildly on the left side of the screen and moves the cursor there again for no reason. I won't be touching the screen at all and it just clicks away like crazy as if I were poking the screen with all my fingers on both my hands.
Hard drive failure, with loss of all data, after 30 days
A. Block, Amazon
7 December 2013
Summary: Catastrophic hard drive failure, with loss of all data, after 30 days of use with no physical damage to the computer -- no drops, no spills. I was very fortunate that Amazon allowed me to return it. Definitely NOT recommended!
Summary: After just five months of owning this the hard drive failed. It was under warranty, and since the damage was on their part not mine they covered the repair, so I sent it in (which costed money) and they replaced it. They never informed me that they had fixed it and I just received it back in the mail with a note saying they had replaced the hard drive. Now not even a month after getting it fixed the brand new hard drive is broken again!
Summary: This is undoubtedly the most problematic computer I have ever owned in almost 30 years of computer use. It crashes more than Windows 98 and that is going some! The problem is not Windows 8, which I use on another computer and like a lot. It is horribly slow, the wi-fi cuts out frequently, the touchpad will stop working without warning and it does some kind of crazy thing when it comes out of hibernation where it takes about 5 minutes to get up and running properly.
BUYER BEWARE-ASUS ADP warranty a crock-HELP I want my laptop back
Michele Magnaldi "Queueme", Amazon
14 September 2013
Summary: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I purchased the ASUS X202E in March 2013. I made a couple of enhancements as suggested by other Amazon X202E owners. I swapped out the HD for an SSD chip and the WIFI for an upgrade. Disappointed with the way ASUS rigged the RAM, since no upgrade is possible, but like all other owners, I live with the 2 GB. All was well- I loved the little guy- hummed along and seldom gave me a peep of trouble.
Summary: This is my fourth Asus because they make fine laptops, but this last one was a lemon and I had to send it back, at my expense after only a month of trying to get it to work right. It was a big headache to get Windows 8 to do anything since there was no help at all to begin using it and the touch screen didn't work well, sometimes not at all. The Asus manual is pitiful, typical of Asus and even worse than before.
Summary: Pros: Small and with Touchscreen Cons: No matter that I used kid gloves, my hard drive crashed, plus other issues....And Windows 8 stinks. This machine seems cheap, but BEWARE, it will cost you in the long run. When my Toshiba died after 4 years of faithful use, I decided to buy this computer because I wanted something newer, rather than fixing up the Toshiba. This machine seemed good, but it has been a nightmare. First, please try it out in the store.
Summary: I buy lots of computers because I teach and use technical innovation whenever I can. I bought this thinking it was an inexpensive backup that I could use. I don't write many reviews, but I am writing this because this is literally a piece of junk. ASUS makes good stuff, but they should not sell something regardless of price point if it is useless. I don't even use it. The track pad is the worst I have ever seen and that is saying something.
