Summary: I'm not of this computer generation so employed my son's computer geek friend. After finding out my needs, it was narrowed down to this one. Windows 8 took some getting used to, like anything new or different, but now I no longer call it "Windows Hate" and I'm more comfortable and friends with the computer which is super comfortable, functional, easy, and fun.
Summary: Two computer experts (that's how they make their living) and I tried for 3 hours to make the laptop work. I had read the ratings--high--and was so positive I'd gotten a terrific machine, that after trying the keyboard and charging it, I threw away the box it had come in! Dumb idea. When I began to use it---NOTHING WORKED! I called in the experts to help. We couldn't even get a log in!!
Summary: I have owned this model for 2 months. The keyboard is the worse part and takes very much time to get used to. The spacebar is especially maddening as it takes an usually hard thumb tap to get it to work properly. This weakness is easy to put up with because of the startup/shutdown time of 10 seconds.
Summary: The asus vivobook s400 is a stunning and fascinating computer, and i was really impressed with how well the touchscreen works. Only downside is that windows 8 is kind of messy sometimes (not asus' fault of course), and when it gets updated and perfected, these 4 stars will turn into 5.
Summary: This laptop is disappointing. First, I had to return my original because the space bar did not work-- I see from other reviews this happens a lot. My second, and current ASUS with Windows 8, has not been the experience I had hoped for. The display changes from desktop to windows menu randomly; the screen size changes without me knowing initiating that command; my wireless signal drops about every 4-10 minutes (hugely annoying while in a chat session); and I have already...
Summary: The reviews are right. The keyboard is very disappointing. More often than not would the space bar not work when caught at the edge. The screen brightness and battery life is insufficient. Enough reasons to return the book that's not quite as ultra as it says.
Summary: THIS COMPUTER DOES NOT HAVE WIDI. Since I bought it fo the WIDI capability, I had to return it, but the screen is bright, the keyboard is easy to use, and the touch screen is clean and nice. If it had had WIDI, I would have been pleased to keep it.
Summary: When my previous laptop died three months ago I bought an Asus S400CA with the hope of benefiting from all the advances in the last few years - particularly Windows 8 and a touch screen. The S400CA has sufficient horsepower to be my exclusive work machine - web programming, analytics, basic graphic work. In that respect It's been great - fast, responsive, and much quicker to start up and shut down.
