  • Conclusion: Overlook its shortcoming for media consumption, though, and the V551LB is highly suitable for most other tasks, including some midrange multimedia authoring and processing. As is, it earns a place on mainstream shopping lists; with a 1,920x1,080 screen, it'd earn a place on our Editors' Choice list.
  • Pros: Strong performance from latest Core i7 CPU and GeForce graphics, Long battery life, Touch screen, Attractive metal design
  • Cons: Low-resolution, lackluster screen, Heavy to carry around

Asus VivoBook V551LB-DB71T good, but not much bang for the buck

CNET
6 October 2013
  • Summary: An attractive, solidly built 15.6-inch thin laptop with overall good performance, the Asus VivoBook V551LB-DB71T is held back by its lackluster display.
  • Pros: The Asus VivoBook V551L is a thin, attractive, and seemingly well-constructed laptop. Its midrange discrete graphics card and 4th-gen Core i7 processor give it overall very good performance and battery life. And it has a 1TB hard drive and DVD burner.
  • Cons: For the V551LB's near-$1,000 price, the screen is pretty disappointing, as is its slow-spinning hard drive. Also, its keyboard is not backlit, which, again, for the price it should have.

Review Asus VivoBook V551LB-DB71T Ultrabook

Notebookcheck
12 August 2013
  • Summary: Sleek meets mainstream. With the 15.6-inch Vivobook V551LB, Asus integrates the latest Haswell hardware and a dedicated video card into a sleek Ultrabook design. At least on paper, the touchscreen notebook seems to offers plenty of performance without breaking the bank. How compelling is this newest entry in the VivoBook-series and how does it stack up against the competition?
  • Pros: Appealing design, fit and finish, Excellent contrast ratio, Long battery life, Remains cool even under load, 24-month warranty, The upscale looks and great build quality. The battery life is also very impressive.
  • Cons: Fairly heavy, Conventional hard drive, Average brightness quite low, No keyboard backlight, Expensive, A better display is on top of our list. A price drop would also be nice.

Asus Vivobook S551LB / V551LB review – a good 15.6 inch ultrabook

UltrabookReview
7 July 2013
  • Summary: The Asus Vivobook S551 is a 15 inch ultrabook you have to consider. Sleek, solid, powerful and efficient, it offers most of the things you would ask from such a laptop. It's not as light as it might seem though and it does have some small design quirks, but those shouldn't steer you away from it.
  • Pros: beautiful and sleek, solid built, touchscreen, decent keyboard/trackpad, fast hardware, good sound, long battery life
  • Cons: poor screen, hot air blown out towards the display, rather heavy, expensive
