Summary: Initially, after my purchase I was totally enamored with this laptop. It was sleek and stylish, and really lightweight. And since it was my first laptop -and coming from an old desktop- it was fast; it was the bee's knees. And then, the novelty wore off: Yes, this laptop is rather lightweight, but it comes at a serious price: strength. The body/case/whatever you call it of the laptop is incredibly flimsy.
cant wait for this laptop to die so that I can buy another brand

Summary: The keyboard is fine, windows is slow (is that a windows problem?), the track pad SUCKS BIG TIME, is the most awful thign I have come across as are the rightclick buttons, it slows my productivity so much.
Summary: Performance is ok, but the build quality is terrible. After six months, the plastic casing around the screen is literally coming apart at the seams. The lid now makes a loud pop when you open it.
Summary: I was looking to replace my wife's old Dell laptop and decided to go with ASUS this time. All previous computers for the last 6 years were from Dell so I was looking for something else. Asus laptop seemed like a good choice, with it's long battery life, relatively light and all the goodies. First impression wasn't bad although web cam is on a low end with .3Mp so using with Skype wasn't a best experience. Partitioning of the hard drive is also questionable.
Summary: This was the first Asus laptop I got my wife, and it will be the last. Out of the box, the fit and finish were better than many of the reviews lead me to believe. The machine has good specs for the price, and the instant on features are pretty cool. The factory default settings on the touchpad make the thing nearly unuseable, and I almost returned it before I was able to reconfigure them. I wish I had.

Summary: I bought this computer for two reasons: Its weight and battery life. . After I installed a VPN client, system crashed. Called technical support, after holding for about half hour, the technician asked me to recover the system from the disk. Battery life is realistic about 3-4 hours. Definitely not 11.5 hours. It's cheating. Users should ask Asus to provide third party certificate to show their claim of 11.5 hours of battery life is not misleading.
Summary: after only 3 months of having this computer the usb drives failed on me and refused to recognize any device as usb 2.0 - this led me to realize that asus HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. to compound my dissatisfaction with the purchasing experience overall, asus hasn't updated any of their PROPIETARY drivers since the laptops release. what this means is that you HAVE to use their drivers (if you want the system to operate in anything higher than 600x400 res.
Summary: After a couple months of looking around, I finally settled on the UL80VT. Was aware of some of the faults people were having (build quality, resolution, touch pad), but it seemed sporadic. I received my UL80 yesterday. Goods: The build seems fine, I do not have any of the creaking noises others have reported, the battery is nice and tight with no free play, the screen is tremendous (at least compared to my old laptop), but there is some flicker when switching between the...
