Summary: ASUS UL50Vt-A1 is a good computer and does everything as expected.Except, the plastic bezel (around the LCD display) near the hinge is crack and broken and now I have a perfectly functional laptop but cannot be used due to poor mechanical design!
Summary: I bought this computer at Best Buy to present web design to my clients and to educate them how they can manage their websites. For this task, it is great: The look of the computer makes a great impression to the clients and the speed is great for this also. The wide horizontal viewing angle is great when you have the clients sitting next to you. The Computer has a VGA and a HDMI port. So you can connect it to the most TVs in conference rooms, which is a great feature.
Summary: I have this laptop for more than 3 months now and overall I'm not satisfied. Why I gave it a 3? Because of the 3 cons. If you want recommendation I'd rather get ASUS N53JF-XE1... or wait next year for sandy bridge... Cons... 1. Screen resolution - I am one of those that think that 1366 x 768 is enough but when you have this pc you will ask for more. 2. Sound - Well I'm not impressed...
Summary: I should have listened to those who complained about the screen & the fact it has a very narrow sweet spot for viewing. ASUS really dropped the ball on this & I ended up paying for it. It is surprising to me that it got into production this way. Somebody in the company should have said: Stop! and fix it.
Summary: I just received this computer last week. The ul80vt model was sold out, so I opted for the larger ul50 vt. Th touchpad takes some getting used to and is certainly an annoyance sometimes, but as a student the draw for me was the long battery life. EVEN ON THE MOST POWER SAVING SETTINGS THIS BATTERY ONLY GETS 6 HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE. For this, I could have spent 60% of the money and purchased an acer.
Summary: I am kind of disappointed. I had to send the computer after not even a month to ASUS because it was freezing up several times during a days work. It has been completely cleaned out by ASUS and I had to start all over and put all my files in again. I got it back Monday and I had problems again (freezing up) and I have to shut it down manually, I will try for another few days and see.
Summary: I purchased this Laptop on 27 November 2009. At first it was amazing, thin, light, solid and perfectly designed. It was fast enough ( not a performance laptop), and the specs were very good. But when I use video chatting I realized that the mic makes a lot of noise which was bad for me because I'll use it a lot. Then I ordered a replacement but I had the same problem with that one also. I'm not sure that this is a constant problem or I was very unlucky.
