Summary: As stated by other reviewers, the ASUS UL30A runs cool, quite, and for a long time on battery power. However, the touchpad is the worst I have ever used. It will operate only with a very, very light touch.
Summary: Update 11/14: I've decided that I'm going to return this laptop. The glossy display is too reflective. It's not really that noticeable if you are looking at a web page with a white background with the brightness turned all the way up, but in almost every case it's just too glossy for my tastes.
Summary: EDIT: See below for my review, but the short story is that the trackpad is terrible. After talking with Asus tech support I decided I really didn't want to go through the process of shipping it back, waiting for a new one, and hoping that the problem was not a design flaw.
Summary: First, I love the computer. - I can squeeze the 12 hours of battery life out of it, but I get 8-10 through normal usage. - Performance is great in Windows 7 and with some older games. - Solid construction.
Summary: Performed a lot of research before purchasing. Bought from Amazon because I try to buy everything from Amazon! Waited a while before posting a review so that I could really get a feel for the product. This laptop is OK. Let me start with the negatives: The trackpad button is AWFUL!
