Summary: I purchased this laptop primarily because the price was just as good as other laptops with the same specs, but it had the Accidental Damage Warranty provided by ASUS. THAT WAS A MISTAKE. DO NOT DEPEND ON THIS WARRANTY. Horrible customer service experience continues... About 6 months after buying my laptop and registering for the ADW, I dropped my laptop and cracked the screen. Bummer, but I remembered I had the ADW.
Summary: I saw in the amazon forums that there were wireless problems with this model last year, but that an ASUS representative had posted in November to say that they were limited and had been fixed. I just received my notebook yesterday, and the signal is so week I have to sit right next to the wireless router to get any reception at all.
Summary: At first I was pretty happy with this laptop. Though I was never able to get 12 hours of battery time I did get around 8 or 9. It is nice having the quick boot and the laptop always stayed quiet and cool. However, after 2 months I went to boot it one day and the screen refused to come on. After two days I called the ASUS customer service and they had me send in the laptop. They ended up sending me a new one. After 2 weeks, the screen blacked out on that one as well!
Summary: Ok, it's sharp looking. The battery life is amazing. The touchpad could use an on/off button but the textured surface is fine. The display is alright ... nothing spectacular. The two year warranty is great. But, there are two big problems I have with this computer. First, the keyboard flex. It's maybe more of an irritant for me than for others, but if it's the kind of thing that might bother you, don't even consider this model. It makes an otherwise nice unit feel cheap.
