Summary: A quick little machine for a kid just wanting to play minecraft or the everyday user just wanting to browse the internet or do some word processing .The processor really can put out some performance if you get a cooling pad/fan which would boost the performance enough to make the cooling pad/fan worth it. It can get a little warm when using it on high performance battery mode for long periods of time and has a very respectable battery life of almost 8 hours.
Summary: I have owned about 8 laptops of different brands and sizes over the last decade or so, this is the only Asus I have owned. I bought it used as a backup laptop for traveling when I don't want to lug my larger one around and for the bedroom as I fall asleep to tv shows I have stored on different flash and external drives and have a small dresser of which my larger laptop doesn't sit on well.
Summary: I've never had a computer that self-destructed in such a fantastic way. The screen bezel is busted and currently held together with tape while I wait to buy a replacement computer. Panels are falling off of the case (DVD tray). The AC adapter no longer functions and I believe the problem is on the laptop, not the adapter. Basically, the build quality is abysmal.
Summary: Very fast and easy to use. I prefer using windows 7 over windows 8 and this laptop runs windows 7 flawlessly. The sound on the speakers is a little low, however I use this to connect to my TV with an HDMI cable for free on demand movies. I could not choose a better laptop for the price.
Summary: I purchased my Asus in Dec 2011 and haven't had an issue with it. I hadn't appreciated it until my 4 year old son spilled a glass of iced tea on it and it went dead. I was shopping for a replacement and couldn't find much that provided the size and features at the price I purchased this machine. I had a replacement in hand but decided to give my Asus one last shot (4days later)...and it booted up and is running well.
Summary: The Asus is really a great laptop when it come to the specs. It has a great build except for two things: (1) The hinge is horrible. It is plastic and bound to break even with light use over time. This is an engineering defect as opposed to anything you might do to the laptop. This would be fine, but getting it replaced was hell and I would rather have gotten a cheaper laptop given what I ended up paying for it. Asus warranty department was NOT helpful.
Decent enough - battery life sucks - no pun intended

Summary: This really is a decent enough laptop, but the battery life is awful. I even swapped out the 500gb spinner with a SSD drv hoping to reduce some of the overhead of the spinner, but, alas, did diddly squat. Might be cause it's a refurb unit ? - battery wasn't swapped out with a clean one ? Who knows - I certainly don't.
