Asus U36J review – sleek and powerful, but is it what we need?

netbooklive.com
19 May 2012
  • Conclusion: As you could see in the review above, there are many aspects to like about the Asus U36J portable laptop. However, I do feel that buying one right now would be hasty. And here’s why: with Intel’s new SandyBridge platforms popping out, the hardware inside this one is outdated.

  • Conclusion: The Asus U36SD-A1 ultraportable laptop is thin and extremely powerful, but you'll need a cooling pad to contain the heat.
  • Pros: Sturdy magnesium frame. Fast Core i5 processor. Nvidia graphics provides gaming boost. USB 3.0 port on board. Excellent battery life.
  • Cons: Heat issues when running moderately intensive tasks. Noisy mouse buttons. Lacks cutting edge wireless features and backlit keyboard.

Asus U36J

Pocket Lint
20 June 2011
  • Conclusion: Asus has already given the U36J a slight bump in spec, from the Core i5 460M to the 480M (and from 3GB to 4GB of memory). That's not the same as upgrading it to a second generation Sandy Bridge processor but so far those are showing up in 15-inch systems so we wouldn't count this as immediately out...
  • Pros: Few thin and light notebooks are this powerful, with a full Core i5 and decent battery life in a small and sturdy package
  • Cons: There's not much wrong with the keyboard, screen, touchpad and port layout but they don't really shine either

  • Summary: The Asus offers good value with plenty of Windows and graphics power, a fingerprint reader and an ExpressGate preboot environment. The screen isn’t great for all environments, however.

Asus U36S

pcworld.pl
11 May 2012
  • Conclusion: waży 1,7 kg, czyli nieco więcej niż przeciętny netbook (1,2 kg).
